Engagement Photo Location!?

I really need help finding a place to take our Engagement photos here within the next few weeks! Every place that is usually suggested has a fee to it if you want to take a professional photographer out (Missions, McNay, Tea Gardens...) Does anyone have any suggestions on any FREE locations besides the Riverwalk? It will be on a Sunday afternoon/evening...we are not really industrial/city kinds of people so something more "country" would work...any little out of the way places, old buildings, maybe!?
Thanks for the help!

Re: Engagement Photo Location!?

  • I took mine at the Japanese Tea Gardens and it was free
  • If you don't mind waiting a bit and going for a drive, there are lavender fields in Wimberly that bloom in March. That's where I'm getting my bridal portraits done. And Wimberly is a cute little town if you want to take pictures in town too.

  • Japanese Tea Gardens are no longer free. And I heard they are going to only allow photo sessions by appointment only in the very near future. Try Gruene in the morning before the stores open. I guess my first question would be what kind of a setting are you looking for in your e-pics?

We are thinking some place out by the Pearl Brewery. I am looking for something that is "San Anotnio" but not the typical SA locations like main part of Riverwalk or the Alamo. I have been told by several that the Riverwalk area out behind the Brewery is pretty nice. The photos will be taken on a Sunday afternoon before dusk so hopefully it wont be too busy.

  • That is when we took ours there, it was Sunday around 4pm.  Not very busy at all.

  • Have you thought about doing it at the missions? or by the blue star brewery?
