What do you think of these colors?

So, I've had a REALLY hard time deciding on colors, I just keep changing my mind. Just like many of you, I have always loved the bouquets with the pale pink peonies, and still really like pale pink bouquets. But I don't really want pale pink BM dresses, at least I don't think. What I am leaning towards now is coral BM dresses (My dress is ivory by the way) with bouquets and centerpieces that are pale pinks and yellows (think peonies, sunflowers, etc.)

Problem is, I also really like hot pink flowers, like hot pink tiger lilies, or hot pink gerber daisies. Would they go with the pale pink/yellow and coral theme, or should I leave out the hot pink?

Also, my wedding is a Sat night and I wanted it to be a more formal feel, so I was thinking long BM dresses (I'm not dead set on long dresses, but a lot of people keep saying how it's so much more formal). Do you think Coral colored long dresses would look nice?

I really need help, I am so bad at like matching colors and deciding what to do, so I'm counting on those of you who have a better eye for color. Thanks.

Re: What do you think of these colors?

  • My colors are very similar to yours, I am doing pinks and greens, and I was thinking about throwing my BMs in coral, because like you, I am not crazy about pale pink dresses. When i told a couple friends/ family members that I was thinking about doing coral BMs dresses they just said that if they are too bright it is going to take the attention away from the bride, when you stand next to them, you want to stand out, I more than likely am going to go with light green dresses for me, with pale pink bouquets

  • My honest opinion is that I think the coral and pale pink colors will clash.  They are too similar and might not look right.  BUT maybe someone somewhere has pulled it off very well.

You seem to really like fun flowers, so you can help make them pop if you have your girls in light grey dresses.  Gray looks good on just about everyone (like in pale pink a lot of fair girls will be unhappy haha) and it is easy to stick in there if you don't want to incorporate it elsewhere because it's neutral, but it still is easy to incorporate if you wish.  For examply, my guys will be in gray tuxesso I wanted to carry that through a little bit, so I have gray napkins and my chalkboards will be more gray than black (found a DIY tutorial on how to color chalkboard paint).  Gray will also allow you to stick in yellow nicely too.

If you want to completely change the look, any shade of purple (pale to dark), pale blue or pale green (though the right green is really tough to get across the board, its the one color the human eye can see the most different shades of) will compliment pink flowers too.  I would have to see it together to see if you could do yellow too with these colors though.

  • Hmm, never thought about them clashing, that's a good point. FI really wants everyone in black, would gray dresses look werid with black suits though?

I still really like the coral, maybe I should do the coral with yellow and leave out the pink? Or do you guys all really dislike the coral all together?

Pretty :) I think it would be ok since it is in the pink family.

  • I think that the coral and pink may also clash. However, I love coral and yellow together! I just think that they pink with the coral might not look right together. But you said you really liked light pink flowers so maybe purple? Or yellow bridesmaid dresses? I also liked the gray dress suggestion, and I think that gray dresses and black tuxes would look just fine!

I love these types of questions! I think the coral and pale pink would look great together if done right. What I don't think would look good (and this is just my opinion) are the sunflowers. I think if you go with pale pink and pale yellow flowers and put them with a coral dress you can even add hints of hot pink. It would be romantic with the pale colors and add a little fun with the hot pink. You could do a dress like this in coral and a pink sash with the pale flowers and one or two small hot pink flowers in the bouquets. http://www.billlevkoff.com/style/bridesmaid-dress/520 Just my opinion :)

  • Thanks for the suggestions guys, I'm really going to have to think on this one, and I'm sure that I'll be asking your opinions again. I like the gray dress idea, so I'll toy with that. Belle, thank you for your suggestion as well, I think I really like what you are suggesting. I'm going to keep looking around at color combos, and hopefully when I go dress shopping with my girls I'll get a more clear picture. Thanks!
