    1. Lisa as a married woman you are now required to contribute at the adult level.

    This made me snort.

I'd tell Marney to keep her Thanksgiving dinner, I'm going to Boston Market BY MYSELF!

Oh gosh.  My Dad's family is sort of like this, and just about this tactful, too.  And I'd be the "Lisa" in my family - they'd totally say something like, "Because you're playing house, you can now contribute as a grown up."  But you better believe they'd still make me sit at the kids' table!

Personally, I like making it all myself.

Wow I am glad my family is not like this. As far as the married women contributing as a grown up. I have offered for years to bring something. I have usually been told something lame - like a bag of rolls from the bakery. Really? Do I appear incompetent/unable to cook due to being young/unmarried/childless? This year I think I will make what I want and bring that.

OR two regulation sized dishes.  We can re-fill as needed.  No tin foil.

Yep. I would bring a normal lid, like one of those pyrex ones? That didn't go with the chafer.

I want to know what a regulation size dish is. I have several sizes of Pyrex dishes.

I've never been to a big Thanksgiving dinner. It's just my parents, me, my brother, and now FI. Mom and I make all the food, but we don't do anything elaborate.

There was the one year where I didn't have time to make the pie filling, so I said I'd just do the spices. When the pie was served, it didn't taste right. Neither of us had added sugar! (I don't consider sugar to be a spice, but I guess my mom did.)

OMG. I could totally see my grandmother (on the off chance she'd risk anyone else cooking and doing it "wrong") sending a letter like this. Yay for living in a different province...
