Lake Tahoe Honeymoon

My fiance and I are planning a ski trip for our honeymoon in January. I was initially looking into Vail before a friend of mine who has been skiing in many different parts of the US suggested we try another location because the slopes in Vail are pretty difficult. He suggested we look into Lake Tahoe, which also has a better night life than Vail and most of the ski villages in Colorado. We aren't looking to go out every night, but would like other stuff to do besides just skiing. Does anyone have any suggestions about places to stay in Lake Tahoe or maybe other location suggestions? I'm having a hard time finding ski resorts online that are ski in/ski out. Thanks!

Re: Lake Tahoe Honeymoon

  • I've never been to Tahoe, but one of my favorite ski resorts is Copper Mountain.  The mountain itself has slopes in all ranges of difficulty levels, and there's a lot of other apres stuff to do at the resort.
  • I'm actually from the Reno/Tahoe area. There are enough ski resorts in the area (Mt. Rose, Boreal, Squaw Valley) so you can practically do a different one each day.  If you are looking for more nightlife you can head down to Reno - it's only about an hour or two drive depending on which side of the lake you're staying on.
