Reception advice

Hi, my wedding is still a ways away but I know I want/ am having the service at St. Andrews Church but I'm not sure about the reception. My wedding is going to be really small just over a 100 people but I wanted to do something outdoors, and not far away from where I'm holding the service. Anyone in Richmond VA that can help that would be great. Also I have looked at Maymont but I'm not sure fi I want to hold it there because Maymont hold memories for my fiance and I of past relationships and I just feel it wouldn't be right. Also I don't have a lot of money to spend on the actual reception site. thanks ladies

Re: Reception advice

  • We are doing both the ceremony and reception at Main St Station. Because it is a historical site, it is super inexpensive to rent (compared to other venues).  There are quite a few stipulations, though...like you can't have candles and so on. You should also try Lewis Ginter Botanical Gardens. It's very pretty and it has the same feel of Maymont (if you're going for the garden-feel). Goood luck!

  • thanks! Lewis Ginter is a great idea. I want out doors but I am holding the wedding in April so I am afraid it may rain. I might just scratch the out doors idea and just do an indoor reception. I want something near the church and I know the school next to the church has a beautiful hall where some people in the neighborhood have done their reception but the space is so large for my small wedding I don't want to be over whelmed. Thanks!
