My fiance and I are just getting around to dicussing the actual ceremony. About a week ago, I realized that Jewish weddings typically have a different processional from Christian weddings. Neither of us are religious, but my family is traditionally Jewish, so I kind of like the idea of walking down with a pair of supporters (even if it is not my parents, as it would be in a traditional Jewish wedding.)
My fiance doesn't want to walk me down the aisle--even though I know that would be my preference. I just feel like I would be extremely self-concious walking, extremely slowly, with all eyes on me. I am by NO means of the imagination a shrinking violet, but I do not like that idea!
My second idea would be to have my MoH and only BM to walk me down the aisle; if not arm-in-arm with me, then directly behind me for moral support. My mother pointed out that this will need a very wide aisle. Am I crazy for considering walking with someone not in my family? We are not a traditional couple, having an outdoor civil ceremony in a lush garden with a small guest list.
Does anyone have any other, alternative ideas for me walking down the aisle? Any encouragement for my idea(s) would also be appreciated!
