Outside Ceremony/Reception Ideas

Hi gals! New here and I would love any suggestions for an outdoor venue for our ceremony/reception! I would prefer both at the same place!

We are in Tusc County area, so anything there or in the nearby counties (Stark, Wayne, Holmes) is an option! We really haven't started a guest list yet, but I would say 100-150 would be a rough estimate. Alcohol must be permitted. We would love something rustic. I love Snode's Restored Country Barn in Minerva, but I think that may be too far. I really love that place :(

If any of you ladies have any ideas, it would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks so much :)

I was a bridesmaid in a wedding a few weekends ago at Lakeside Banquet Center in Navarre and it was really nice.  They had the ceremony in the outdoor gazebo over the lake and then we headed inside for the reception.

Not that I'm from Ohio- but I came on these boards to read about Ohio weddings because I just went to a really confusing reception there for my cousins wedding this past weekend LOL!

I'll throw in It was a beautiful place though- the Berlin Hotel and Suites in Millersburg. We also went to Raven's Glenn Winery for fun- which would be a beautiful place if they allow ceremonies/receptions there!

We are hoping to find a place that we can have an outdoor reception as well, but who knows...

smore- What was so confusing about the reception? I'm curious! This may be humorous :)

Omg- it was just soo odd. I'm not sure I will do it justice in my explaination- BUT- we get to the hotel, check in, and walk over to the reception. Find our table- our salad is waiting for us in STYROFOAM dishes- LOL, killed me. Which was odd because it was a formal table setting, and the rest of the plates were breakable if you know what I mean. For apps- it was chunks of cheese on a buffet table with no crackers- because they ran out (we got there a half hour after the reception started).  This really didn't even weird me out so much as this- the bridal party is introduced, then the bride and her hubby- then immediately after they make their way to the front, the DJ announces they will be cutting the cake.

You should have seen the look on everyone at my table. We're all from CT- but this was my family (cousin) from OH- we've visited each other many times, and while we know some things we both do are vastly different from each other- this was so odd! Their family friend was sitting with us and we asked her if this was normal here in OH- and the look on her face was priceles- shes like "this is not right!". No one got to see the cake, and they didn't even eat any after they made a cut. Their photographer was even dumbfounded but oh well! There were many other things, and this is kinda taken out of context because I wish I could explain the whole thing but it would be a book!!

Lol! Too funny...I've been to doozies as well. I just don't think people think things thru enough! Apparently whoever was coordinating the evening may have been a tad confused.

It could have been the other way around...I went to one where they didn't start ANYTHING for about 1.5 to 2hrs after everyone was done eating. I thought for sure the FOTB was going to kill that DJ, lol!

Whoa. :-) I attended a wedding once (I think it was in Kalamazoo, MI) where the 'appetizers' were 3 small bowls of peanuts/pretzels and goldfish crackers that nobody bothered to refill once they were empty on the table. Talk about not thinking things through.

I have been to a wedding where the couple cut the cake right away, and it was served to us as the final course. I was really thinking about doing this at my wedding, but now I'm having second thoughts. I never thought about people not getting to see the cake. Maybe if the guests were somehow informed that that's what we'd be doing? Thoughts, anyone?
