What is one of your favourite wedding memories (excluding your own wedding)?

For me it would have to be my attence to my very first Sikh wedding. Everyone was so welcoming at the reception. They were more than willing to explain what was going on at times when it was obvious that I didn't know what was going on. It was definitely a nice oppotunity to explore a new culture.

I've answered this question many times, but my favorite wedding was my friends who had a traditional Chinese reception.  Ten courses of family style and different chinese food.  I was sitting at a table with all my friends and every time they brought a new dish, we'd all get excited trying to figure out what we had.  I ate so many awesome things that night that I would never have tried on my own or even known existed.  We had a blast.
  • I haven't really been to many weddings. I guess my favorite was H's best friend's wedding. It was really laid back and had some of the best food I've ever eaten, all homecooked and/or fresh off the grill. Their families had been cooking for days in preparation and it definitely paid off.
  • My favorite wedding memory would be my little sister's wedding.  She was so happy.  And, Pete and Repeat (my kids) who were 4 and 3 repectively, were in in and looked so sweet!
  • I went to a winter wedding with my mom when I was 9 or 10 years old. I don't remember what faith it was (I want to say Greek Orthodox), but it was very formal and traditional. After the ceremony, instead of bustling the train of the bride's dress, the train converted into a hooded cape. She looked so beautiful riding in this horse-drawn carriage to the reception site, especially since it started snowing. I don't even know how they accompished that, and I had never seen it before (or since), so I think that's why it stuck in my memory so long.

  • My brother's wedding last year was fantastic.  Beautiful setting, amazing food, martini luge, fun DJ and dancing, family and friends, and SIL's CWs had choreographed a flash mob dance that was too cool.

  • I've been to a lot of weddings but my family isn't very multicultural so they've basically all been the same. My mothers BFF's daughter married into a Greek family and that was definitely the best wedding I've ever been to. It was HUGE, gorgeous and learning to dance Greek was so much fun. That reminds me, I need to make friends with more Greeks...

  • H's friend's wedding in June was fun.  The ceremony was hot as hell, but the reception was fun.  They had an awesome DJ and an open bar.  It basically turned into a big party, which was a lot of fun.  And H and I stayed at the hotel where the wedding was, so we didn't have to worry about driving back to a hotel.

Our friends' wedding two years ago was a lot of fun too.  I got to hang out with all my friends from college, and it was my first time being a bridesmaid in a wedding.  She was so chill about the whole thing.

  • My sister got married on August 27th and I have to say that was my favorite wedding. Her and her now husband got married in city hall, reserving one of the balconies. I got to spend the morning with her, the makeup artist, and photographer. We had a blast! I got the be there to see the first look and I was one of the witnesses to sign the marriage license. I helped my sister out with her planning, not because she expected it, but because I wanted to help, and it was beautiful. One of the great memories I had was the wedding favors. My sister is a graphic designer and created personalized labels for Jones sodas. On the label she gave me a personal shout out and that just made me tear up.
  • A few years ago H was the best man in a wedding in Des Moines. The bride's mother owned this HUGE very successful woodworking factory/design studio. The factory was about 3 stories high, and they converted the big open room into the reception area, and the ENTIRE three story wall was glass looking out into the woods. Every table was a different dyed/designed table. You could tell they put a LOT of money into transitioning it... so much that they do weddings there now frequently!

<div>That place is AMAZING and makes me want to go throw a big party in Des Moines. Wow. </div><div>
</div><div>My favorite wedding memory is my oldest brother's entire wedding. I was nine and we flew to Boston for it. The whole thing was a blast. Very laid-back, very fun. My SIL's family is very Irish and there was gobs of dancing, great food and it was the first time I'd ever seen real flowers (actual fresh flowers as opposed to frosting ones) on a cake. They had a huge party at their house afterward and blew some fuses, so we were without power for awhile. It was nuts. And so much fun! </div>

  • My favorite is when my little sister got married and during their first dance my brother in law sang the words to the song the whole time to my sister.
  • I'm fortunate to have been a guest at several beautiful weddings, but one of my favorites was the first gay wedding I ever attended. One of the grooms was a friend and former coworker of my fiance's, and he and his partner were married under the huge magnolia tree in their backyard. The tree created some lovely shade and scent on that hot August afternoon. A mutual friend conducted their ceremony, and my fiance and I cued up the music for them to walk down the aisle. Their chosen song? Etta James, of course: "At Last." It was a sweet and emotional day, and I can honestly say I've never seen two people more in love, more excited to be married, or more grateful and appreciative of the opportunity to do so. (This was just a couple of months before Prop. 8 passed in California, so they got in right under the wire.)
