ISO private home with pool to rent for party

A friend is looking for a venue to throw a pool party for 50 of their closest friends and family.  I thought a private home with a pool might be a good way to go, but now the question is: how do I find contacts?  Anyone have any ideas?

I don't know any private homes that are available for rent for just one day.  I know the Y rents its pool and party room, which might be a way to go, but it obviously has a different atmosphere.

Umm, I suppose you could try posting on craigslist, but there probably aren't too many people out there eager to rent their home out for one day to someone they don't know.  What if the place got trashed?  I would look at maybe holding the party at a hotel with a pool, if you really want a pool.

Tough one.  I would first start checking with vacation rental sites like homeaway.com and vrbo.com.  Here's one I find in Culpepper  http://www.vrbo.com/259285

Thanks for the VRBO listing; been on there all day  Culpepper is a little far out for most of the guests.

I know people do this sort of thing.  They normally use it for investment purposes, not a primary residence.  Which makes it an ideal solution for house parties.  Just haven't had much luck with the internet search engines.

Another thought would be to rent an apartment/condo complex with a pool.  I believe there is a apartment complex in NW DC - tenleytown area that rents out their pool/event space.  I bet there are other places too.

Have you tried talking to a professional party planner?  They might have the contacts and knowledge you need for this.  My only concern with someone renting out their home and pool is legal/insurance liabilities.
