Just Engaged and Proposals

My Proposal Story!

I would like to share one of my favorite stories that holds a special place in my heart.

I had been in the hospital for four days by this time for excessive migranes and that day was the day that Dustin, asked me to spend the rest of my life with him. He got out of his classes early and came to my hospital room. He asked me if I would take a walk with him. So I got out of bed, IV and all, walked down to the lobby, and sat next to him on a little couch. He held my hand and told me that, these are the times that make him realize how much he loves me, how he doesn't want to lose me, and that he wants to spend his life with me. Seeing me sick in the hospital made him want to ask me even more. He said he wants to be the one to wake up to me in 80 years! So with that said, he told me he is positive he wants to spend his life with me, even though I am in pajamas, sick in a hospital, etc...So he said, "If you're sure you want to spend your life with me, will you marry me?" I started giggling, curled up in his arms, and said, 'Without a doubt, yes!" (He even asked me twice to make sure it wasn't the medication talking). He asked if I was sure, and I said, "I have known for months that you're the man I want to spend my life with, and I know it is God's plan." And he said, "And God does not make mistakes."

A little while later, I sit down in his lap, he pulls out the most BEAUTIFUL ring, and slips it on my finger. :-)

I never thought the day would come that the godly man I've always dreamed about and wanted, would propose and profess his love to me! I'm in awe and I'm in love. :-) Not a day goes by that I don't thank God for bringing me through the trials in my life I have gone through, for through them, I found Him, and then, when I was ready, He brought me to Dustin. And for all of that, I will always be thankful. :-)

Now THIS is  a real life, God given blessing! It is perfect!

Re: My Proposal Story!

  • That's so true! Dustin is more of a "rocker" and I am more of a "country girl." But somehow God fit us together so perfectly!

  • Thank you' everyone! Now, we have to wait until October 2012, to get married. I don't know how I am going to handle waiting that long! When you're so in love with someone, you want the rest of your lives to start now!

It helps if you remind yourself that your life with him has already started- the day you met him. You're together now, and you'll be together after you're married. Forever doesn't start when you get married.
  • Congratulations.

  • Thank you, I am just so blessed! :-)
  • What you just said is almost identical to a really beautiful quote from When Harry Met Sally.  It might be cute to include in your ceremony.
  • Thank you, guys! Dustin just informed me the other day, he doesn't want to wait two years to get married which we had origionally planned. So it looks like it may just be a year from now! I don't know where to start planning! We're not able to have a big, expensive wedding, so any help/ideas, would be AMAZING!
