Photographers

I'm starting to look for a photographer for engagement photos and for the wedding day.

Who do you have to suggest?!

    I'm using Randy DeMoss of DeMoss Photography. He did our engagement photos and they were fantastic. He has a ton of experience and is responbly priced.

    Here are some questions to help answer the first question:)
    * What sort of style of photographer are you looking for?
    * How many hours do you think you'll need them for?
    * What's your price range?

    There's a decent list under "Vendor Reviews" on the Seattle Bios page:

    Jenny GG seems to be the most popular one on TK these days ... and her rates are really good given her quality and amount of coverage.

    We're using Christopher Gendron instead:

    Using C2 Photography, they're newer but seem very cool -- laid back and artistic -- and have good rates.

    We are using lifebox studios.  we loved the pics they took for a friend's wedding and we had fun with them during our engagement pics.

    I ditto what niq said - you have to really think about what you want your pictures to look like.  Some photographers are traditional, with more posed shots.  The up side is that you'll probably get the exact shots you want.  Some tend to be more photojournalistic, with less obvious posing.  The upside is that the ppl tend to look more natural.

    Really spend some time and look at the pics of the various photographers - what shots do they almost always take? do you like those photos?  does it fit your style?  That' really helped us narrow it down - to one, actually.  :)

    I'm on a budget with my photography so my options are a bit limited. So there are two people I'm looking at,

    Allen http://www.koenigphoto.com/ most weddings are $975 and that includes an Engagement Session, all day coverage of the wedding, and the digital negatives. It says 300-400 photos but I read a couple reviews about him and most girls report getting closer to 1,000 photos.

    Brad http://www.bradjohnsen.com/ starts at $850, but really doesn't say much more about what he includes. He's a friend of a coworker, so I figured I'd check him out.

    We've hired Libby Lewis (www.libbylewis.com). She's great, her photos are full of joy, she brings a second shooter, and she gives us all images retouched on a disc afterward. And she includes an engagement session with her 7-hour wedding packages.

    You could always do what I did: Googled Seattle wedding photographers, then went to all of their Web sites to check out their portfolios and packages/prices. Although Libby came recommended by my reception venue.
