When is it a good time for an evening wedding?

When is it a good time for an evening wedding?
I thought the ceremony should start at 6 and the reception around 7.

Any Ideas?

Our ceremony will be 5:30-6:00 so that dinner will be served at 6:30.

I think dinner at 7 or later is a little late.

depends if you're having indoor or outdoor ceremony, or if you want photos outside. If you want them outside, at least 30 minutes before sundown, longer if your ceremony is going to be longer.

Ours is 5-6 on a balcony.  Sundown is set for 6:38.  Our reception is inside from 6-10.

Ours is at 5:30, with a cocktail hour (and picture taking for us, family, and bridal party) from 6-7, and reception from 7-11.

It probably depends on your venue.

I would have prefered ours start at 6 or 6:30 (closer to dark), but it would've shortened our reception since our venue only allows receptions to go until 11...so we stuck with the 5:30 time they suggested.

Also - depending on the time of year, sundown is at different times...something to consider...

I would have picked 6:00 but that wasn't an option for us.  We had been searching everywhere for a church to get married in that didn't require a huge payment or us to be members of.  We took what we had and are having ours at 7:15. Thing about that is that some people won't bring their kids which is nice lol  Dinner will be very late though.
