Wedding Invitations & Paper

Wording for Party to Celebrate our marriage -- after the wedding.

We are getting married on 8/24 -- a very small intimate ceremony.  We are having a big party to celebrate on 8/25. How do I word the invitation.  Usually the wording is something like "join us to celebrate our recent marriage"...

However, the invites will be going out before we're married... What to do?

THANKS!

"You are invited to celebrate the marriage ceremony of Miss Teenord and FI Teenord on..." is probably what I would use.  Keep in mind, though, that the party will only be non-offensive if the ceremony is TRULY intimate... like your immediate families, and that's it.  No friends, no wedding party, etc.  For a lot of people the ceremony is the important part, so you may hit some resistance with this plan.

  • Thanks!

It is a VERY intimate ceremony and a second wedding.  So our daughters and parents will be it. So far we have this wording...

Please join us in a celebration under the stars in honor of the marriage of ....

    the other option was....

Please join us for an evening under the stars to celebrate the marriage of ....

    What do you think?
  • I like the 2nd option better.
