underthings?

i'm starting to think about this since i got a date for when my dress will be here! They told me to have all of the things I plan to wear under the dress to try on with it. i'm sort of at a loss though.

for reference, this is me in my dress:

it's form-fitting to upper thigh, so i figure i will want to wear some spanx underneath. i tried some on a few days ago, and i think the slim cognito mid thigh body suit will work well. it runs from mid thigh to just below the bra line. it also includes hooks so you can attach it to any bra you want.

now, i have a strapless that i got for when i was a BM in a friends wedding, from VS. it's not the greatest though. i have yet to find a strapless that actually stays up, so i'm looking for recommendations. i'm not very well endowed, so i need something with a little padding/push up.

have you picked out what you will be wearing underneath your dress yet?

I prob won't have a bra and my dress is very figure flattering so no lines!

I'm planning on getting cups sown into my dress, so I guess for my first fitting I'll just bring my strapless bra (even though it's black, ha). As for the rest of it....no idea.

I bought a "long bra" when I bought my dress. I was adamently against a strapless dress because I want to dance ALL night and didn't want to be pulling it up all night/worrying about my bra. The long bra fixed those worries and I love it.

I don't think I'll be wearing spanx despite my gown's fit & flare sillhouette- I've lost 10 inches since December and keep losing, so I don't think it'll be a problem. I am wearing a crinny that I'll dye blue & probably "Mrs. NewLastName" panties. I wish I could wear sexy lingerie under my dress, but I guess that's just not practical haha. I'll have to get Fi to help me get undressed then change in the bathroom afterward

kelly - i love your dress! very similar to mine - i too, won't need a bra - they are sewing cups in or socks or panty hose obvi - i just need to get a good pair of undies

btw- this is probably a dumb question - but where do you get a garter? vickies?

I tried on my dress this last time with a long line bra that was super comfortable. I may end up buying it but I haven't decided yet. My dress is empire waist so I don't really need any lower tummy/bottom shaping.

I have my dress and I'd like to try it on with just a plain bra to see if the longline is even necessary but atm FH is the only one who could zip me up and I don't want him to see it yet!

I'll be wearing spanx...That is a given. I don't go out without them. I also will be wearing a long line bra over them. The more support the better.

Also, the best strapless bra I ever purchased was at David's bridal. If you have a lady grace, near you, bring in a picture and ask them what they have that would work for you.

they pretty much just push everything in/even things out so you don't have lines/bulges, etc.

Well, I think you look fantastic in your dress. I don't see any lumps or anything that you would want to "spanx"- I think you look really thin. I'd say just get cups sewn in and call it a day.

I'm wearing a long line bra (corset type) under mine, but it's a poofy ball gown. I'm not sure if that would shown a line where the bra ended if it was a fit and flare like yours.

kelly - the cups are great if they are done right...you dont want them to be lopsided or anything. they need to be sewn in pretty perfect. i used to dance and got them sewn into my costumes. you learn to get pretty friendly with the seamstress

I'm having cups sewn in as well and I probably just wear cute, comfotable panties since (with the skirt on my dress) you can't see anything even if it was neon. I tried on my dress at the store with a fit and flare skirt and it felt too poofy. When it came in, I tried it on at my MOH's house without the slip and like it better. But then I had a dream that it was the wedding day and I really, really regretted not having one. So now I'm second guessing myself. =P

My sister is sewing in a built in backless/strapless bra (one of the ones that like tape themselves to you lol). I have baby blue panties (boy shorts, gonna be comfortable! lol) and rhinestone wording that says Mrs HisLastName. Going to iron them across the butt tomorrow while he's out of the house

I have a straight down mermaid slip I borrowed from a friend. Probably going to have to buy chicken cutlets to fill in the cups/give a little oomph! I also just bought white fishnet thigh highs/garter set (FI looooooves fishnets). I have a pair of royal blue and black (our wedding colors) zebra print undies that I bought before we picked out our colors haha. My heels are blue/black zebra print so I think those would be fun panties to wear (and maybe have my photographer take a pic or two of).

OP, as for a good strapless, check out wonderbra. I'm a small B and I love the push up/padding it gives. It has elastic around the top so it doesn't slide but isn't uncomfortable at all. I love them and have one in black and one in nude for my day to day use. I think I bought them at Macys for around $30.

OP-I don't think you need to wear spanks!

My dress store said I didn't need a bra with my dress, but I will probably have cups put in. I only plan to wear underwear and my garter under my dress. It fits really well and is a ballgown, so it isn't fitted the leg.

Not yet... I've lost 17lbs since I ordered my dress and I plan on dropping a bit more. I'll need an amazing bra since I am well endowed(DD). I'm afraid of getting a bad bra and giving the guests a peep show in my strapless gown. I wanted mrs his last name panties but FI says he would not like me wearing that.
