Cookie/Candy Bar...or Not?

Hi all,

So I originally bought 6 beautiful vases for a candy bar, but the more I think about the logistics and cost I'm not so sure about it... until today when I thought a cookie bar might be easier/morefun/less expensive.

Eileen's Cookies can do 200 cookies (frosted/unfrosted/any flavor/etc...) for about $80 and 300 for just under $120.  Then I thought, I could buy little plastic sleeves and seal them with a sticker with our initial or monogram.

FI thinks we don't need it since we are serving cake and I thought it would be a nice favor.  SO I'm doing a poll...

Who is doing a favor of some kind, be it food, trinket, etc...?

    We didn't do favors but I think edible favors are by far the best way to go.  And, I LOVE cookies so I think it's a great idea!  But, it is also an easy area to cut if you need to save money.

    We are doing jar candles. I know most people suggest doing an edible favor, but my aunt has her own candle business and everyone loves them. So she offered to make them for us.

    I think the cookie bar is a great idea! And Eileen's Cookies are amazing :) I bet your guests would love it!

    We had a candy buffet - it's been almost two years, and people STILL bring it up!  Like the pp's said, I think edible is the way to go.  Unless you're going to give some great, expensive gift, most people are going to throw the favors away.  I think a cookie buffet would be awesome!  :)

    I had a cookie bar at my wedding.  We had little cookie bags with wax linings embossed with our names and wedding date on them, so people could take home cookies if they wanted, or eat them there.  We had Dorothy Thompson of Omaha Pastry make them and her iced sugar cookies were to die for.  People loved them.  We also had chocolate mint and regular chocolate chip.  The cost to do this was much cheaper than most traditional favors.

    I think its a great idea...I LOVE eileens cookies! SO yummy! Good choice and not a terribly pricey either. Non edibles can cost so much! I am thinking of going the edible route too!
