Normandy Farms

Hi guys -

My fiance and I are considering Normandy Farms as a possible site for our wedding.  He and I were there the other night to eat dinner at the Farmer's Daughter and there just so happened to be a wedding going on in the larger ballroom.  We decided to walk by to see if we could get a peak to see what the room looks like setup for a wedding but unfortunately it looked SO dark in there, we could barely see anything! I don't want my reception to be in the dark.  Can anyone that has had a wedding there or been to a wedding there let me know if you are able to control how bright you want your reception?  I'm hoping maybe that bride and groom wanted it very dark and romantic and that's why the lights were very low and I'm hoping if I wanted it brighter, I'd be able to do so.  Please let me know! Thanks guys.

Lauren

Re: Normandy Farms

  • I don't know specifically about Normandy Farms, but in general, you can add lighting for a pretty marginal cost and it adds a lot of ambiance. If you love the location but think it looks too dark (and/or you find out you can't control the lighting), you could always go this route? Just a thought.

Also, my photographer recently shot a wedding there. It didn't look too dark in her photos, although I don't know to what extent there was added lighting. http://www.jennchildress.com/normandy-farms-wedding-melissa-brian/

    Good luck!

  • I was in a Wedding there Spring of 2011.  The lighting was bright when doing toasts and eating and then darken when dancing and the night went on.  You can definetly control the lighting in there.

    Enjoy!
  • I checked out Normandy Farms when I was scouting out venues and I remember thinking the room had a very rustic feel to it. I agree that maybe the B&G just wanted it darker for whatever reason. I would definitely consider them though, they were pretty high up on my list.

BTW, how was The Farmer's Daughter? I haven't been there since it was Colemans and I haven't really heard anything about TFD.

  • The Farmer's Daughter was DELICIOUS. We had been wanting to try it so we could see what the food is like since Normandy is a potential venue for us and we were very very impressed.  Even though people have told me the food at Normandy was great, it helped to actually get to test it out ourselves.  We're very glad we did!
  • Here is a link to some photos from our wedding at Normandy in July 2010.  Hope it helps!

  • I was at a wedding there a while ago.. I remember it being dark.. and we remember the food being so-so. My fiance wanted to stay away from there.. b/c of those two things... GOOD LUCK!
  • my best friend had a dinner there, and it was amazing. They let us hang out at a back bar pretty late, which kept the party going. The dance floor was perfect too!
