Plus Size Bridal

Hi Ladies!
I was wondering if anyone has had a good experience with any bridal salons besides David's when looking for your gowns as a plus sized bride.  I definitely want to be able to try on my dress but it seems like so many stores just have small sample sizes.  Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Plus Size Bridal

  • I went to the Macy's Bridal at the Cherry Hill Mall.  I was able to try on most gowns.  I think of the 20 I tried on, only 2 fit so poorly, I wouldn't leave the dressing room.  The ladies there are also all very nice.  They carry Demetrios bridal gowns and also have trunk sales semi-frequently.  So you can save 15% off the dress!
  • I'm not sure what your budget is, I know three plus size brides who have used Kleinfeld's for their dresses but they all were between $1200-$2000. I was on the lower end of the plus sizes but I didn't find ANYTHING I liked anywhere else. The smaller bridal boutiques weren't very nice to me and places like Kelinfeld's or other ones were far too much for me. I actually used David's myself and got my dream dress... Not sure if you looked there or just don't want to go with them but I was resistant myself in the begining and ended up with a designer dress at under $1000 including alterations that I wish I could wear all the time! Good luck, it's frustrating but you WILL find it...

Also if you don't mind traveling a lil, The Bridal Garden (not sure if there's any in Jersey, I am assuming there must be somewhere) in Brooklyn has designer gowns in all sizes that have been (I think) donated where all the proceeds or a portion of them go to charity (my sister got her dress there so I am not 100% on the details) but you might want to try them!
  • The Bridal Suite in Hamilton NJ has a good amount of plus sized dresses to try on. I got my dress their and it was an amazing experience. I cant wait for it to come in so I can go back and try it on!!

  • Not sure if you had any luck yet.  But Rienzi Bridal Shop in Vineland, NJ is amazing.  That is where I got my dress from.  They actually participate in the "Borrow A Bonny" program from Bonny Bridal.  You pay $50 to have a sample dress shipped to them to try on and if you purchase a dress the $50 goes toward your payment.  I actually didn't like the dress I ordered in in person and they started bringing me other dresses and the dress I originally saw on Bonny's website but thought it may not flatter me ended up being my dress.  I cried, and you know when you cry you've got the right one.  Their prices were EXCEPTIONALLY reasonable.
