Might loose a groomsman this late in the game!

We have a groomsman that is having trouble fiancially and he might not be able to attend our wedding now. He has yet to order his tux and we only have 11 days left! My fi has talked to him several times but every time he says he'll order it the next day. He also has not booked his flight yet. We discovered that another one of my Fi's friends is driving from his area and she offered to take him (in case the plane ticket is too high) but when she tried to call him last night he did not answer.

Now what do we do? I am stressing big time over this!

  • Have anybody willing to step in?  If so, go get them measured and then call the other guy and tell him his services are no longer required (maybe a little nicer than that).....
  • I wouldn't be any nicer than what Mark said.. he's obviously had months to plan and figure, and if he accepted being part of your bridal party, he had those months to save... I would just tell him not to worry about it, that you'll fill the space. Or, you could plan your procession/recession without him.

This is the part that irritates me......:(

I just don't have the patience for stuff like this anymore.  Too many other things that need doing.

  • I wish that we had someone to step in but we don't. I could ask my brother but he doesn't have the money for the tux and my fi and my brother are no close at all.

  • Honestly, this might be his way of declining/dropping out.  I would let it be and if he doesn't show or show up in a tux, he's the one who looks stupid.  I know its hard but let him make himself look bad.  He will lose friendships and thats on him.  I hope it works out for you :)

  • Tara, I had two sets of grandparents drop out last minute and no one was the wiser. Oh, and sides have been uneven since march. You couldn't even tell. I just had everyone "recess" individually. I know it stinks, but you will get through this and it will be a beautiful wedding!! :)

  • Tara,

At this point I would give him a call and let him know that since it is so close to the wedding and it is not affordable for him that it is "ok" for him to not participate in the wedding.

I wouldn't replace him... no one is going to care if there is an odd number (I now have odd numbers). You have 11 days to go, time to remove this stress and focus your attention on the great things going on in the next 11 days!
