Seperate thank you cards for shower and wedding??

So we just got our first wedding/shower gifts in the mail this afternoon!!!! So excited but I don't know what to do about thank you cards.

We recieved 2 gifts from my FH's aunt and uncle both from BBB and shipped in the same box.  There was only one card that said "Showers of happiness", However one present (which was the more expensive) was gift wrapped and one was not. I know that other members of his family are sending us shower presents and wedding presents at the same time, as they live far away and can not attend my shower.

Should I assume that both presents are for the shower since that was the only card, or that the more expensive wrapped present is actually a wedding present? Either way is it acceptable to write a single thank you card for both items since they are from the same people?

Both gifts are very generous and I do not know his extended family very well so I want to make a good impression. Please let me know what you think would be best.......
Thank you in advance!!

Re: Seperate thank you cards for shower and wedding??

  • If the gifts are sent at the same time from the same person then write one card and thank them for the gifts.  No need to mention if they were for the shower or for the wedding (mostly because you have no idea if that's it or if they'll send you another when your wedding gets a little closer).

  • Yep send one. If you got 10 items in a basket from one person you would send one, so call it a day with just thanking for both and getting the TY card out asap :-)
