Honeymoon in October - All Inclusive choices for about 4K??

We are getting married October 1st and we (mainly me) keep going back and forth about where to do our AI honeymoon. Advice please? Our budget is about 4K. I've been looking into Majestic Elegance but of course for every 10 reviews I read there are a few negatives. We're just looking for a relaxing week with the option of doing some excursions. Thanks in advance!

When we looked at the Cozumel Palace (good trip advisor reviews), it was just over $3k including flights.  While I think that bad reviews should be taken with a grain of salt (some people just can't be pleased) a few bad reviews for every ten reviews is too many bad reviews, IMO.

We HMed  this past October at Secrets Maroma Beach in Riveria Maya, MX for 8 days/7 nights for about $4k.  That included flights from Chicago, transport to resort, a swim-out pool room with Preferred Club status.  We loved Secrets Maroma!
  • We booked the El Dorado Seaside Suites.  Def in the price range, there are actually a few El Dorado All Inclusives.
  • We're going to Majestic Elegance in the DR!!! however- if you scroll down there is a whole thread dedicated to Majestic Elegance
  • We're going to Costa Rica (Riu Guanacaste AI) for just around 3K!
  • We're currently thinking about Couples in Negril, Jamaica - depending on your room choice it's ranging from low to high 3000s.  7 nights - including airfare (we're looking end of Sept.)

  • rschaefer123,
i went through the same thing, we would find a place and then look at the reviews and be really put off by them.  then i spoke with our travel agent and she warned me to take the reviews with a grain of salt.  Consider the source, for example the people who complain about the food at AI.  The write ups that they give make me laugh because they pride themselves on being a "foodie" and having "good pallet" for taste.  If that is the case then they are at fault for booking a vacation at an all inclusive.  While i'm sure the food is great, better than a chain resturant, i'm sure its not the fine dinning quailty they claim to be used too.

Whereever you end up you will love because its your honeymoonm, but really consider who is writing these reviews, they are certainly not qualified to have thier own show on food network or they wouldn't be going to a place that i could afford LOL.  best of luck
  • My dad got married last October and had his honeymoon in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico at a resort AI.  It was $1800 for both of them (including airfare).  They went through a travel agency so I can't help you out more than that.  Good luck!

  • I am going to go with Divi Aruba all inclusive...5 nights for about $3200 (flights included)
  • We chose Majestic Elegance and are going at the end of October.  I have heard horrible things about the food in the dominican in general not just this specific resort.  But I know three couples who have gone there on a honeymoon in the last year and all three LOVED it, and they all including myself were able to get all inclusive including flights for under 3500.
  • Couples Tower Isle (Ocho Rios Jamaica)
    Dreams PuntaCana
    Secrets Maroma Beach
just a few on the top of my head. October is off season for a lot of places, so you can get great discounts!

I'd suggest to go to a travel agent, even if you don't book with them. They helped us out tremendously. We are actually going to book tomorrow at Couples Tower Isle-- it's about $3500 for everything!

    Good luck! :)
  • We just booked 9 days at Couples tower Isle and all together we payed 3900$ (flights leaving from Hartford). So many things are included with the package. You should check it out!
