DJ and Photographers

Hello Ladies,

I am getting married next summer and I am looking for a DJ and Photographer. I want a DJ who is good at what they do and does not cost a lot of money. I have some ideas for a phtographer, but I want to look around. I want someone who turns out an amazing product and gets all of the shots of the wedding that I want. Any suggestions would be great!
Also, If anyone had BBQ catering for their wedding any ideas would be great!

Re: DJ and Photographers

  • I am getting married this September! So far I booked Weddings by Paul V. He has been amazing so far and his prices are awesome!!!

We are having a pig roast. We are using Sensenig's Meats. We tasted their food and they are very yummy and good prices!!! They do more than just pig roasts.

    Good luck!!!!

    DJ:  Check out www.davetieffentertainment.com

Photographer: www.courtneyanton.com (she is offering 30% off of any package booked before February 1st)

    Both are wonderfully talented.
  • I would recommend Adam McCallister of Birdsnest Productions for DJ. I booked him for my October 2012 wedding and I can't say from personal experience YET but I have heard AMAZING things about him! He is a very cool guy & his prices are extremely reasonable compared to the others that I looked into. Good luck! :)
  • Photographer: 32 Counties...the guys are soooo cool and accommodating! They don't have set packages they listen to what you want and create a package designed for you...we had our e-pics done already (not wedding that is this October) and the pics turned out great! I cannot say enough good things about them!

DJ: I would second Adam McCallister...I tried to get him for my wedding but he was already booked.  He seems to be the most recommended DJ on this board I have not heard anything bad about him!
I've loved you since I was 8 years old...

I third Adam McCallister. He is my DJ for my July wedding. He is really personable so far. We had a beer with him at our local pub and had a great time chatting with him and getting to know him. He really got a sense of who we were. He is my facebook friend and often comments on my status. He is really helpful when it comes to choosing music and will play whatever it is you want. He is low key. He's not one of those DJs that will talk all night and play stupid games. He will be in the background but will help things move along. He knows it's the couple's day not away for him to advertise.

Also Adam is pretty cheap compared to other professional DJs in this area. He also does lighting!

I also recommend Chris Hayes Photography. He is from Shelfont, PAbut don't let the distance scare you. He has always been on time for my events. He doesn't charge extra for the distance he has to travel. We had our engagement pics done by him and he was wonderful. He makes you feel comfortable like he's not even there. His style is casual and more candid which is popular right now. I highly recommend him if you have an outdoor wedding. He is a great landscape (working the bridal party into nature) photographer.

  • As for BBQ: we are doing a pig roast with SEI Catering from Lititz.  We used them for my oldest daughter's wedding- food is delish and prices are good.

Other options would be Hess's, Big Jake's, Tri-County Catering

I'll third or fourth Adam McCallister. Unfortunately he is unavailable for our October 2012 wedding, and I still haven't found a suitable replacement...

  • Definitely Adam McCallister for a DJ! He will be doing our wedding next weekend and he has been so great to work with. I cannot say a enough good things about him!

For catering, you can look into Carrie Jean's catering-we are also using her. She recently started a buisness so her prices are great-we tasted the food and it is really good!
  • @Kimberlyr22 was Adam McCallister booked for all of OCT 2012? thats when my wedding is:)

  • Photographer: We are using Erin Keough Photography! I absolutuely love Erin and got to know her while we were doing our engagement pictures. I feel so comfortable shooting with her and I now consider her a friend! Her prices are very reasonable and her work=amazing!
DJ: Matt Haines with Mixed Impressions DJs: Matt and his brother run the company. He did my friend's wedding and we were on the dance floor the whole time. Matt is down to earth and so nice!
    Good luck!

  • I asked about October 13th and 20th and he was booked for both...as was Solas Photography for anyone with those dates....

It just occured to me that October is huge for HS Homecoming Dances, so we're competing with not only other brides and events, but also homecomings!

  • Elaina - my date is also Oct 13 - we just changed it from October 20th. Our original date was 10/13 but we had a very tough time finding an affordable venue for that date, so we switched it to the 20th. But, I gave Four Seasons in Lancaster a chance after my fiance begged me to check it out...and I loved it. They had October 13th open, so we signed the contract yesterday.

For any other brides that are looking for affordable Lancaster venues - Four Seasons GC just did a total remodel and they now have very neutral rooms -- and the price can't be beat, for the venue and the alcohol they provide. They've also opened it up to 7-8 caterers (Rettews, Accomac, Greenfield, etc.), instead of just Acorn Farms. We're doing both ceremony and reception there, so we booked the whole place.

  • DJ:: We used Kent Wissinger and he was awesome. Played great music, gauged the crowd, kept the night running very smoothly, but totally blended into the background: http://www.exclaimdjs.com/
  • I Hiiiiiighly recommend R Lawrence photography and would be more than happy to share my photos for you to look at.

Leslie Gilbert Photography is also amazing, and the sweetest girl ever - she did my boudoir photos.

DJ was Mixed Up Productions- their DJs are radio hosts and are incredbile. I felt bad I didnt even have to (or need to) talk to mine on our wedding night! We had Ronnie from the Rose, and he was perfect!
