Dress Fitting - PIP

Good evening, my dears.  :)  .I had my almost-last dress fitting today (just the bustle to go, now).  I have one pic (because my little Italian seamstress was afraid of my camera, lol).  And (sadly) I'm feeling kind of hmm about the whole thing.  I love the dress.  Don't get me wrong.  But I feel like I look a little thick in the waist.

I'm not a stick, by any means, but I'm pretty slender.  And I feel like my dress is just not working that to my advantage.  :(   I'm thinking it's maybe a combo of two things: (1) I'm small, but I'm also very short.  So the proportions look a little off (I've even got my big ol' heels on in this pic, and I still think I look a little squat).  And (2) There's just a lot going on at the waist of this dress.  There's just a lot of boning, and then embroidery on top of that, that I think is bulking up that section of the gown.

So...I need to snap out of this.  Smack me around, ladies.  I'm lucky to be as thin as I am, I should stop whining, everyone looks gorgeous in their wedding dress anyway...blah blah blah.  It's time for a reality check for me, Knottie-style.   :)  Here's the pic.  Ooh - and ignore the face and the hair.  Only one pic to work with, so you get the glorious unedited, mid-blink me.  :)

First of all, I think it's mandatory that no one ever get a good picture of them in their dress before the wedding.  All of mine (and everyone else's) they weren't ready for the photo so they are making a weird face or hair is all messy or something like that.

But back to your photo:  honestly, I don't see it.  I see a fantastic figure and your small waist is being shown off by drawing attention to it (if that makes sense?)

And I never would have thought you to be short based on this photo, you look perfectly proportioned.

And yes, every bride looks gorgeous on their wedding day and you certainly will be no exception.

I think everyone has thoughts that they don't look great in their dress prior to it fitting perfectly.  Honestly, you are beautiful in it.  It shows off an hourglass figure, and draws attention to all the right areas.

My first thought was not "thick waist, " it was "va-va-voom" for whatever that's worth.

We are such twinsies today!! I had my last fitting too and my first thought was, "crap!! this dress makes my hips look big!". I will tell you what my sister told me - "shut your mouth, you look beautiful. You're just finding reasons to pick on the dress because it's getting close to the wedding and you're rethinking every detail because you want everything to be perfect. Well, you look perfect. Steve [Jeremy] is going to be speechless. Let's go get dinner - you need a drink and a brownie or something". Melissa, that dress fits you perfect. You have a teeny waist and the dress is accentuating it. I remember the blurry pic you first posted. The dress looked great then and it looks even better now. Listen to my sister.

I think it makes your boobs look big.  See, now you aren't focusing on your waist, are you. :P

You look great!  Very shapely and feminine - all that a wedding dress should be.  And, I like it a lot better than the short dress you bought initially, so I think you've made the right decision.

Thanks so much, guys.  I feel a lot better.  Just needed to work through that almost-there freakout.  :)  Liz - that was exactly what I needed to hear.  Thank you.  Nobody likes their last dress fitting?  Well, okay then.  I'm fine feeling this way if it's just tradition. I just wish I'd realized that before it happened, like the 2-month-point freakout.  :)

And although I appreciate all your kind words so much, my favorites (tied) have to be:

    "Va-va-vOOM!"

    and (paraphrased):

"Listen to my sister.  Shut your mouth and eat  a brownie."

Actually, that last one probably works for most things.
Thanks again, ladies.  Hope everyone had a great night.

    I literally LOL'd at this.  <3 you SheShe :)

Melissa you look gorgeous.  We all have those mini-freakouts but my theory is when we start nitpicking the little stuff, it means we don't have anything bigger to worry about which in and of itself is a great thing.

And if I recall correctly, wasn't there a previous issue with your dress?  As in you had found one and didn't like it or something like that?  If this is the case and I'm not confusing people, this may be those doubts coming back.  But not to worry, you will look beautiful on your wedding day and Jeremy will be thrilled.

Eat your brownie and good luck with your last little bit of planning!!

This! No, but seriously. I love the detailing around the waist and I do think it's shape gives you a nice hourglass silhoutte. It looks great on you!

You look amazing!  Wow, if I could only have a waist like that!  Definately, non need to worry about looking thick.  There is no thick part of you in that dress.
