Finalizing invitation wording

Hi laides, just wondering if you can help me out.  We are having both parents names on our invites and not sure the order of the names:

Should our parnets names appear as:
Jane and John Smith invite you to the marriage of their daughter.....

or

John and Jane Smith invite you to the marriage of their daughter....

My parents want their names and not Mr & Mrs, but which name is first, mother? or father?

    request the honour of your presence at the Nuptial Mass uniting their children.....

    The rule I was told in school was that you never remove the mans name from his last name, hence, write the women's name first...

    Melfacto is correct - it's always the woman's name first whether or not the couple has the same last name.  So:

    Jane Smith & Michael Jones
    request the honour of your presence....
