Is anyone doing a non-traditional guest book? I'm looking for ideas!

We're doing a wishing tree instead of a regular guest book. People can write what they would have normally written in the guest book on a small tag then hang in on a tree we'll have displayed. I haven't figured out exactly what I'm doing with all the tags afterwards but I'll probably make a little scrapbook with all of them and maybe some pictures from the wedding.

I took our engagement pics and made them into a scrapbook of sorts on snapfish and left some blank pages as well. We'll have people write notes, advice, memories in the book. Not super creative, but better than just signing their names. I figure we can leave it out as a coffee table book.

I am doing a mailbox with postcards. I have 6 different postcards that are all pictures of the downtown area we are getting married in. Our guest will sign the postcards and write us a note than "mail" them off to us.

<div>I just saw an idea on Pinterest where the couple set out postcards that were already addressed to them and stamped and then guests could actually mail them to the couple through the year or they had one person in charge who took them all and mailed each one throughout the course of the year. I thought that was pretty cute.</div>

As part of our photography package our photographer made a book out of the top 30 engagement pictures we chose. Each picture has a page and space around/next to it to write something. We are making instructions and putting that in a nice frame for the guests to look through the book and write something next to the picture they want.

We are doing a traditional one but I saw a really cool idea. You can buy a custom made puzzle and have guests write on the piexes. There are a few shapes they can be made into. The one I liked the most is in the shape of a tree.

If I can find one in Chinatown next weekend, we are doing a red signing silk. It's a cloth with double happiness on it, and guests sign and write whatever they want. After, I can frame it and hang it up.

I'm doing a guest book quilt! I didn't think I was going to be able to do it, but I figured out the logistics and a family friend said she would make it for us - yay! We'll have a table set up with a basket of quilt squares, and people can sign it, write a note, draw a picture, whatever. Later on we'll have a forever keepsake that we can keep out all the time. I have a serious obsession with blankets and quilts, so this is perfect!

I am also thinking about having people sign the corks from our wine bottles at the reception, and make something from them. I've seen several fun things on pinterest to do with corks!

We're having the guests fill out Mad Libs (Guest Libs) which will be 4x6 or 5x7 and then we'll put them in a photo album afterwards. I posted my Guest Libs that an Etsy dealer made for me in the discussion "Mad Libs" a few threads down.

We're doing the custom puzzle and having guests sign the pieces. Then we'll frame the puzzle using glass on both sides so we can see the messages.

I'm doing basically this too. There are little cards (probably deep blue and shimmery white) for guests to write on and put in a large hurricane lamp. I'm going to make a scrapbook of the pre-wedding events and some wedding pictures so these cards will be throughout the scrapbook.

We're doing a custom Phillies jersey. Someone on here posted about it before, and I've seen it on other sites also. We have our new last name and the year as the number. FI and I are huge Phillies fans so we can't wait to hang it in our house!

Since we are having a photo booth and that comes with a scrap book of all the photos and people can sign it I've been thinking of doing something like the tree or just little cards people put in a jar so that I can then put them all on pieces of scrapbook paper and add them to the back of the photo booth book.

We were going to do the puzzle idea -- but it was bit more costly than expected. So, I got a Vistaprint deal and created a calendar using some of our favorite pictures together... it takes our guests on a picture journey with us. Each guest will find their birthday and sign our calendar (so we have a guest "book" and a record of everyone's birthday)

Since Vista had a business card sale, I also created "Best Advice for the Bride & Groom" cards which will be on the table. Guests can write special messages on them and put them in our Card box.

We are doing a Madlibs that people can put into Wine Bottles for us to open on different annivesary's. FI and didn't want a traditional guestbook because we know we would never read it. We thought this was a cool idea because we would look at it again on certain anniversary's. Plus we are huge wine drinkers...

not sure what we are doing yet, getting good ideas! but i went to a wedding where they had the photo booth and you got two print outs of the pics, one to take home and one posted in a book w/ black paper. then had cool coloured pens to write next to the pic, so the bride and groom could see the pictures of people @ the wedding along w/ the messages they wrote to them. if you do something like this would suggest you have an attendent to assist guests with sticking the pics in and keeping it organized! like one of the gm or bm's or something!

I like that stones and a sharpie idea! Now that I've seen that, I'm split, but before I was decided on doing a different guest book at every table. I found the idea on Martha Stewart's wedding website, you put a smaller book at every table (I found some Moleskin ones in our wedding colors) and then you write a question on the cover for the table to answer in the book. For example a table of our friends might get "What's your favorite memory of the couple?" whereas a table of our older relatives might get "What's your best marriage advice for the newlyweds?" I think I'll tie them up in some ribbon after and display them somewhere in our house, or just keep them to look through periodically.
