Hi I am new to the board and on the hunt for dress shops : )

I am just engaged and hoping to start shopping for a wedding dress soon. I am 24 years old and not a huge girly girl. I am looking for mermaid style gowns in the Atlanta Area or online. I would greatly appreciate any suggestions or shops to try ou. We have a small budhet o no more than $1500.

No need to be sorry.  Your local board will be able to give you some advice on salons they like.

However, for styles in that price range, consider looking at Mori Lee and Alfred Angelo.  Both are in the $800-$1300.00 range.  You can get an idea of their dress styles on their websites. You can't order directly from them, but you can find a salon in your area that carry those designers.

    Congrats on your engagement!

    <a href="http://www.alfredangelo.com" rel="nofollow">www.alfredangelo.com</a>

Casablanca and Allure are also great designers in that range, although they might be on the higher end of that range, and certain styles may go above that.

    Good luck!

Good luck!    So, now that you know which designers you like, use their websites to find salons in your area that carry that designer.

My only advice, is try not to "fall in love" with styles from the photos. Dresses always look VERY different on you than they do on the models.  Most brides here had their "dream dress" in mind, and ended up going with a totally different dress.

When you go shopping, make sure you try on lots of different styles and cuts.  You might be surprised what actually looks best on you.
  • I made sure to right that all down for when I fgo shopping. I feel like it should be common sense but I am sure in all the excitement I may orget LOL.
