DJ issues...What would you do?

Hey Ladies,

I'm 11 days out and I'm freaking out over our DJ.

I emailed him last week to find out what he would like to eat since we are having individually plated meals.  Didn't hear back. So I called and his phone goes straight to voicemail, left messages, no call back.

Should I give him a few more days?  Start looking for a backup?  What would you do?

Re: DJ issues...What would you do?

  • I'd be freaking out to, is he located in your area? If he is, I would do a surprise visit, ask him whats up... If hes not, give it maybe another 2 days but I'd get back up soon. Especially 11 days before...until then, email him and keep calling, if you signed a contract with him, you have rights, especially if he is paid in full.
  • Start looking for a backup, it's what I would do.  Do you have a street address for him?
  • Do you have another way to contact them such as email?

  • I do have his address but I believe it is his home.

I have emailed him as well, its been over a week and no response.

  • I would suggest looking for a back-up DJ. That sucks.  Really really badly.  I'm sorry. :(
  • I would drive to his home if it is close, pay him a surprise visit and see what he has to say, even if you already have a back up dj, see what his excuse is. Also I gighly recommend that if he has a website, you write a review, that way other brides do not have to go through this like you did!
  • Look right away and keep trying to contact him at the same time.  Cover all bases.
  • So is he not responding at all, or just not to this specific question? For instance, have you e-mailed him to confirm timing and other things about the day and has he been responsive to that?

I don't know that I think he's flaking, but it's a possibility if he's being completely unresponsive. I asked my vendors what they wanted to eat (meat or veg) and none of them gave me any indication, so I just ordered the meat option for them and it seemed to work out.

Also, I didn't hear from my DJ about wedding details until the week of my wedding. Granted, that was stipulated in the contract, so I knew it would be that timing, but I'm pointing it out to say all hope may not be lost. I'd keep trying him and give him a date that he MUST get back to you by in order for you to consider everything finalized and confirmed for the wedding.
