  • Thanks, LADY! I was planning on bringing 50 Shades on the HM (or downloading it on my kindle) but I will definitely look into that book as well! I have a feeling I will need a lot of books for the HM b/c we will mostly be on the beach relaxing :)

  • ohhhhhhhh thanks for the recommendation! Definitely going to look into reading this one. I have heard that I am getting the 50 shades series from a friend at my bachelorette party on Saturday, but I definitely need more fun reading materials for the 9 days that we will be sitting on the beach!

Anyone else have any other fun beachy reads they would recommend???

Have you read any Elin Hilderbrand books? All of her stuff takes place on Nantucket Island during the summer, and they are perfect beach reads, I love all of her books!

  • Did you read the something borrowed/something blue series?  It is really good too!

BTW, what are all ya'll's FIs reading now? I was thinking of getting my FI a book for the trip, b/c I have a feeling he will forget to bring one for himself.

Haha, that sounds like something my FI would read. He is in med school, so definitely a nerd, too.

  • Last summer on vacation I read Water for Elephants and The Help. They were great beach reads. I didn't see the movies, though! I'm with you Bells.. my FI only reads sports-related magazines or news articles. I wish I could get him to read a book lol

My fiance is currently reading some book about the history of oysters and oyster harvesting in NYC. Seriously? Even the title makes me fall asleep.

I second the Something Borrowed/Something Blue series. They are totally stupid but very entertaining!

  • you know what's funny? I bet our fiances make fun of all the chick lit and sex lit books that we read the same way that we make fun of their strange book reading choices.

Although, bridetobe, that oyster harvesting book sounds absolutely miserable.  I can't imagine oyster harvesting would be particularly interesting.
  • I just finished reading On the Island and it was SO GOOD! It was like a romantic version of Cast Away. I read it straight through in 6hrs and stayed up until 3am to finish it! I haven't done that since I was 16! OMG it is such a good story, quick easy read. Good beach read!

I also just started reading Divergent which is great so far. I am about half way through and it is kind of similar to Hungar Games (futuristic novel) but it's about how people are split in to groups to livein communities and have certain jobs based on personality or ideals. It's interesting and almost addicting as Hunger Games.
  • On the Island is a AWESOME read! I read it in a solid 6 hrs and stayed up until 3am to finish! It a a great, easy beach read.

Divergent is another series I am starting that is somewhat similar to Hunger Games. It's about how in the future peopl are split in to "factions" to live and work together based on their personality and ideals. It good so far.
