Beauty Regimen

I have been breaking out like crazy, i think it is from stress, but i thought why not a better oppportunity to see what is out there. I thought about getting the Olay rx products sold at my local drugstore.
Also I thought about getting the whitestrips for my teeth too. I asked my dentist about it and he recommended them so i figured who wouldn't want a whiter smile on their wedding day.

Has anyone started or is thinking about starting a beauty regimen?

Re: Beauty Regimen

  • The only thing I plan on doing is the Crest White Strips. I've used them a few times before and they really do work. They might make your teeth hurt though. The first time I used them I was fine, but every time I use them since that first time, even if I wait like 6 months in between, my teeth hurt from day one. Sensidine works wonders for that though!

  • I will also be doing the crest white strips.  Nothing else besides that :)

  • Crest White Strips, nothing else out of the norm.  I love white strips and have been using them once every 2 years or so since I was about 16....they work wonders.

  • I'll be doing the whitestrips too - I've used them a few times over the past several years, and they work well for me. I agree with PPs that it makes my teeth really sensitive, but the sensitivity goes away after I finish using the strips. I also don't follow the directions exactly, if I'm remembering correctly it says to use it for two weeks but I usually stop after one week.
I want to do something about my skin, too, because I've been breaking out a lot. I haven't decided what I will do about it yet, though. Do any of you have products you swear by?

  • Not really doing anything. I did the white strips years ago and they really hurt my teeth! People say I have very white teeth so I think I'll be fine if I don't do anything. Let's just hope my teeth don't look yellow in the pictures!!

Bells- I used to break out a little bit, but that has stopped completely when I started using birth control (Nuvaring). You could look into it?

  • I had a fun make up trial.  She showed me how to do everyday make up.  She'd also show me "event eyes" for only $15.  So I'll probably go do that.  I have a few products I'll have to buy though.

We both were going to do whitestrips as well!
  • Instead of getting the Crest strips, I have been using cotton balls dipped in peroxide before brushing. It has the same effect and is a lot cheaper. For my skin I mix some baking soda and water to exfoliate my skin once a week. It's really helpful in the winter because so me spots on my face get flaky. After, I use Burt's Bees chap stick and St Ives lotion on my face.
  • White strips & that is it...I'm breaking out a lot too...but I think it has a lot not only to do with stress but also from the humidity down here...it sucks...I'm ready to move back to MI!

bahhh that's the one reason I hate going to Florida.  I ALWAYS break out, and thought it was from sunscreen for a while, but then I started using better sunscreen for my face and I still broke out...darn humidity.  I love my hot, dry weather (and my BC that controls breakouts...hehe)

  • I love crest white strips!

I've had awful skin my entire life, I even went on accutane when I was in High School and that helped for a while but I started breaking out again a few years later. Washing with a gentle cleanser and then using 2.5% benzoyl peroxide before bed has worked the best for me. Proactiv's version is great, you can buy it on amazon here. And I only use the repairing lotion (2.5% benzoyl peroxide), I don't use any of the other 'steps'.

  • I am going to do the crest white strips as well.  Thankfully my breakouts got under control when I switched bc's.

  • I have a crazy beauty regimen getting ready for the wedding!

I had awful breakouts around the time I got engaged (no idea why they appeared one day and I tried everything under the sun, including Rx). Finally I tried the Neutrogena SkinId. It seriously CHANGED my life. My face is 100% clear now, but I'm left with some scarring. So I get monthly facials, wash with Cetaphil at night, and moisturize like crazy. I try to drink lots and lots of water too.

I'm in the process of getting my eyebrows re-shaped so they'll be perfect by July!

And I'm doing Invisalign. Next month my treatments ends and I am really looking forward to having nice, straight teeth for wedding photos! My orthodontist is throwing in a free teeth whitening session, so I will have that done right before the wedding.
