Flower girl cannot throw petals :(

Ok ladies I need your help! Our church won't allow us to throw petals, blow bubbles, through rice, confetti of anything like that. We don't have the option of cleaning it up either due to the short time span between the next mass after our ceremony.

However, our flower girls have been practicing throwing their flowers from the baskets for months now and are super disappointed they can't. I know they can carry bouquets or those little balls of flowers but does anyone have any good ideas for them to actually do anything cute while walking down the aisle if they can't throw anything?????

I like ribbon wand idea. I've heard the idea before of ring bearers ringing bells as they walk down the isle as a way to announce the bride is about to come. I don't see why a flower girl couldn't do that too unless it would interfer too much with music you may have played.

I like the ribbon wand idea, and along the same lines, what about a pin wheel? She could spin it while walking down the aisle.

My church didn't allow petals either but my girls still carried their baskets down the aisle. The petals they used when we arrived at my in laws for cocktail hour.

make ribbon wands and sew small fabric flowers on the end? Like the size od spray roses? But be careful, I can see this easily being a diysaster

I have seen some ringbearers carry a sogn that says "here comes the bride"... less intrusive than bells.

Can they throw silk flower petals? I bought silk petals that look very authentic, and no once looks at them anyway.

The bells are an Irish tradition. The chime of bells is supposed to keep evil spirits away on your wedding day. When they later hear any bells, married couples are reminded of their wedding vows.

<div>I'm thinking that won't work because the don't have any cleanup time after the wedding and before the next mass. It is very common these days for churches and venues to forbid anything being tossed or thrown.</div>

My venue prohibits flower petals and confetti as well, so we're getting our FG to carry a mini bouquet. She was a little disappointed at first when I mentioned she wouldn't be throwing the petals (as it's something the little ones look forward too), but she's just thrilled to be in her Uncle J's wedding so she doesn't mind about the mini bouquet anymore.

I like this. I wanted petals so I am having mine with petals. But, I know she will feel important if she has her own bouquet. I know when I was her age, I was so desperate to catch the bride's bouquet because I wanted it...so I ordered a little one for her that she can use in picture or just have the rest of the day....but will make her feel important

If you want to do anything other than a little basket or bouquet, run the idea past your priest or the parish wedding coordinator. The Catholic Church considers weddings to be a Sacrament, so the liturgical rules are fairly set. I'm guessing the sign, pinwheel, and bells that might be cute in another setting would all be nixed as not being appropriate for the ceremony, whether or not you're having a full nuptial Mass. The girls LOVED their little bouquets. They felt "grown up".

I have a new magazine today called "Flea Market style Weddings" It has great vintage DIY ideas. It has 2 ideas regarding his dilemma. Have the flower girl give out lollipops with labels on them of scriptures of love.Or sweet sayings. Or have the flower girl give whole flowers to ladies in the pews.
She could carry a bouquet of flowers. She could wave the wand of ribbons. If you gown is long,maybe you could have her carry your train.
I wish you luck coming up with a solution!
