Cake!

Hi Ladies,

I am trying to decide on weather not to use my venue's vendor package or not so i'm doing research on my own vendors. Next up is the cake, I am not looking for anything extravagent just simple and pretty. Any suggestions on cake vendors and also, what does your average wedding cake cost?

I'm getting my sister's wedding cake for her & her fiance as a gift and ordered through Creative Cakes by Debby.  I had her cake at a b-day party and it was great!  My sister is only having 30 people at her wedding so the cake is a small 2 layer, basic flavors and a fairly simple design.  The cost is $135.  You can usually estimate $4-$6 per slice depending on flavors and designs.  Good luck with your search.

Don't use Galley Hatch catering. they were a no show for our wedding and left us cakeless.

funny story though- the o0ther day my fortune cookie informed me that "a nice cake will be waiting for you"

    We're using Jacques Pastries!!

We were considering using Jacques or Chickadee Hill and went with Jacques bc they were already included in our package.  Both have delish cakes and reasonable prices.  GL!

Edit: I can't remember how much Jacques was per person but Chickadee Hill said their prices started at $3.50 a serving (last year's pricing).  I think that's pretty typical

I'm using Black Bunny Bakery out of Elliot, ME. Kara is FANTASTIC.

Fudge, who is your reception vendor? Who would be making the cake?

I highly recommend Jacques.  They've made several cakes for my family, and all were amazingly delicious, and beautiful.  The one they made for my grandparents' anniversary was so gorgeous and flawless that nobody realized it was all buttercream, they just assumed it was fondant.

My mother did have one small problem with her birthday cake, and they were incredibly responsive and helpful in dealing with the problem.  We will absolutely be using them for our wedding.  In fact, my mother is SO excited about us using Jacques that every time I talk to her, she asks if I've set up a tasting yet!

That's awesome!  I'm getting married at Searles Castle in Windham.  I'm a little worried about traffic because the majority of our friends and family will be coming from Maine and Mass, but the majority of our immediate families are planning on staying locally anyway.

We're using Cakes for All Occasions http://www.cakesforalloccasions.org/index.html

They're in Templeton, MA but also deliver to locations in the southwestern part of NH also.  Her cakes are YUMMY.

We tried Jacques, but FI didn't like and though their cakes were a little too heavy and that the frosting was too buttery.  I liked them ok--I guess it's just a matter of taste.  They seem to be very popular in NH.  Their prices were around $5 or so per slice, but could be higher depending upon your design.

We are using Jacques.  Their cake is DELISH! They also have some great designs.  They are completely working with our woodsy/nature theme and making us a birch tree cake. And they were included in our package.

I highly recommend Jacques.  Growing up just a couple of miles from there, we used them for many special occasion cakes.  My parents have always been incredibly impressed with the service, product, and the overall experience.  They are friendly, professional, and their work is gorgeous- and delicious!  I wouldn't have gone anywhere else. :)

I was thrilled to find out jacques was one of our included vendors for our cake!I've had several cakes from them and they are amazing!! I met someone who used to work there and she said they do not freeze  cakes like other places do, which is what can make them dry. I'm picking my wedding cake next weekend when I pick up a cake there for my sisters college graduation!!
