First Wedding Gift Question!

We received our first wedding gift today, from FI's great uncle that is unable to make it to the wedding.  He included a very nice card, his RSVP & a check!  = )

So I know this has been asked before, but how does this work again?

We cash it now, send a thank you & don't spend the money till after the wedding, right?

    Well for our 'shower' presents...we sent out a thank you, put all cash and checks in a separate savings account called 'Home' and put all the gifts away in a room not to use until after wedding.  We've only received shower gifts so far..but I would do a wedding gift the same way.  I would be annoyed if I sent a check to someone for a gift and they took over a month to cash it.

    Yeah, that's what I'm thinking too Bridget! 

    Just wanted to make sure I didn't make up the "cash it now" theory, in my head!  = )

    Agree, I would not wait to cash a check. It can screw up peoples bank account if they forget about it. I would cash it and put in a savings account. Thats what we did and it's now being put for a down payment towards a house :)

    I also have nothing to add other than...holy crap only 36 days until your wedding! CRAZY  :)

    This summer is going so freaking fast.
