Incorporating Match.com into reception

Hi everyone!

My finance and I met over 3 1/2 years ago on match.com and we just got engaged three weeks ago! We both thought it would be fun if we were able to incorporate the story of how we met online somehow in the reception...either through a story involving table numbers (ie table 1-it started with a wink), posting a board with a poem explaining howwe met where guests pick up their escort cards, etc. Does anyone have any ideas on how this could be done?

Thanks!

Honestly, I think  you are going to risk this looking like an advertisement for the company.  I don't think people meeting online is particularly unique these days, and I imagine most of your close friends/family probably already know how you met.

    I would skip this idea.
  • I can't think of any tasteful way to include it
  • Leave it out.  How we met stories are only good if you met in a truly unusual way.  These days your meeting your FI online is about as unusual as me meeting DH in a bar after work.

  • Well, don't mention Match.com.  It actually comes off as a little tacky to mention commercial enterprises in this way because it sounds like a product endorsement, and your wedding isn't supposed to be a marketing gimmick.

I don't see a problem with mentioning that you met online though.
  • I disagree with most of these posts- people meet each other off online dating sites all the time but it doesn't lead to marriage that often... I met my FI off match.com and we want to incorporate our story into the wedding...I think that no matter how you met it is ok to incorporate into your wedding...if it wasnt for you story of how you met there would be no wedding! I am thinking of surprising him with a mini slide show...the beginning of it is going to be just pics of our profiles to show thats how we met...and then bout our first date- he was sick so i dropped off chicken noodle soup on his front door step (before we even ended up meeting since he had to cancel our first date)....so its not going to be a big part of the wedding but I do plan to put a pic in the slideshow about it.. good luck!!
  • Every couple meets in one way or another-on a vacation, at a restaurant, a shop, in a car accident etc... and online too. i think the cake idea above is probably the best way to do it. since a good porton of us dont meet online i wouldn't make the connection between a table name of 'wink'  being for an online site. i'd jsut think you were making cute flirtation relationship words.
    dont over theme.

  • Doesn't matter how you met.  It's special to you all the same.  What about doing one of those "our story" boards... Like these

Then you can do significant online and offline moments:
    - he winked
    - she flirted
    - he took her out
    - she fell in love
    - he popped the question
    - she married her perfect "match"

I think it's cute.  I wouldn't explicitely poster match.com all over the place, but I like the idea.

In FACT.  My cousin just married a girl he met online (and I met my FI online too).  I got them a pre-market card that was all about online dating... something like "it started with a tweet and a wink..."  something like that.

    Go for it
