Centerpiece Mock Up

So even though my reception hall is providing glass containers and hurricane lamp shades and mirrors. I went and bought everything from the craft store to put it together and play around with it. We can't afford real fresh flowers as centerpieces, so i'm using a mixture of glass and candles on mirror, blue marbles and fake white roses in the vases. Oh and the votive holders have our names and dates on them and guest can take these home at the end of the night. Please tell me what you think or does it look cheap. We will have real flowers and the girls bouquets lined up on our head table though.

    I'm a little confused. So the real final product will have a hurricane vase with one large white rose in the center like htat?

    We will have 35 tables throughout the reception that sit 10 per table. Each table will have a centerpiece like the mockup picture above, the only difference is the center glass vases are hurricane vases. Like this:
     



    Its just a little different shaped from the one i used in the photo, but yes i will have blue marbles at the bottom of the vase and a few white fake roses inside. The 4 Votive candles that will surround it look like this:



    All of it will sit on the glass mirror.

    I think i might have confused you when i mentioned the headtable. I have 6 bridesmaids plus myself and we all have "Real" fresh flower bouquets and those will be in vases on our head table, but our budget couldnt afford centerpieces with real flowers on all the other 35 guests tables.

    35 tables! Yikes! That's 350 guests, right? Oh I totally understand not being able to afford that many. 

    Honestly, I think it depends on the scale in comparison to the table. Personally, I didn't want a lot of open space in the middle with just a small centerpiece. So mine has lots of little things scattered around. I think yours looks nice, you just have to make a judgment of whether or not it's enough for the size of your table. You have to take into account the space taken up by dishes, cups, favors & such. If you know the size of your tables, I'm sure your florist can guide you in seeing how much space you have in the middle to fill up.

    I think it's pretty!  We're doing the same thing, kind of, as far as using our bouquets at the head table for centerpieces.  I don't think it looks cheap at all.  Then again for me personally, I can't really justify spending the money for real flowers for centerpieces, so I'm DIYing my centerpieces (except for head table, which I'm doing what you're doing).

    I think your mockup is beautiful.

    Yes we are having 325-350 guests. I still have to get the final headcount together by the end of the month. But its about 32-35 tables. And i can't really justify spending a ton of money on real flowers either other than our bouquets. We are already spending so much! As much as i love the look of fresh flowers, its just not in our budget. I dont think it would be too bad as far as the space on the table because there will be linens, glasses, plates, etc. Kind of like this set up below too, but ours will be blue and the centerpiece above rather than the candle inside. I just wanted opinions to see if it looked cheap or very low budget. 

    The reception hall provides the hurricanes and glass mirrors. I bought the marbles and fake roses from the dollar store for $15 total. I did spend about $100 for 200 votive holders with our names and date on them that will be part of our "take your pick" favors. The other favor is a photo booth that will be in the banquet hall lobby.  So all in all its costing about $3 per centerpiece and candle/shot glass favor. :)

    That's some savvy shopping! If it wasn't for the fact that my florists are friends & I'm only paying for the actual flowers, I could't afford it either. The markup is incredible. <div>
    </div><div>I think what you have looks really nice & doesn't look cheap at all. Now that I see what the real hurricane vases look like, I get it more. It would be cool if there was some type of light coming fromt the vase. Like maybe some LED tea lights embedded in the marbles? I got cheap LED tea lights from Walmart. I don't really know how it will show through the marbles though. It's just an idea.</div>

    I think it looks great.  Another idea you could play around with if you're not dead set on that, is filling the vase with water and have the white rose floating and marbles at the bottom (I couldn't tell from your pic if that's what you did.)

    Thanks. I originally wanted to do more like floating candles or fill them with water. But the glass vases they provide are only Hurricane Shades and have no bottoms. So they will just have to place the marbles and flowers inside with no water.  They setup they suggested was the shade with just a taper candle in the middle and a green wreath around it. I thought that looked hideous and didnt match our colors! I'm just trying to work with what i can.
