Opinions Needed...

Ok ladies, I've had my hair trial done and now I have a question. For those of you with long hair, are any of you concerned about people NOT seeing the back of your dress?? My hair is super long, and while I know everyone has their own opinions, most of my BM's, my mom and FMIL, didn't like that you couldn't see the back of my dress with my hair..the other thing is I am wearing a veil, so again, I've tried to explain to the above people, that the veil will be hiding the back of my dress anyway...so it really shouldn't be this big of a deal..but apparently they've complained enough that it now aggravated me...so I'm asking you ladies who all have beautiful dresses with amazing detail, what are you doing about your hair covering your dress (in the back) or doesn't it really matter???

Re: Opinions Needed...

  • For me, it really doesn't matter. I think that even with my hair down, that it doesn't take away from the detail of the corset. I guess, with my dress, though, most of the detailing is in the train/bustle area. The intricate beading detail on the corset part is the same in the front and the back.

I also felt super pretty with my hair down, so I  would probably do what makes me feel pretty, as opposed to the dress. JMO
  • I'm wearing mine down, but most of my detailing is in the bottom. I wanted to cover my tattoo but not enough to use makeup or anything. I'm not ashamed of it, just don't want it to be the center of attention. :) My mom tried to talk me into wearing it up but I put my foot down. I have not been growing it all these years to wear up...

  • I am wearing my hair down but somewhat swept to the side so it is partially on my back but mostly over the shoulder.  Maybe you could do something like that?   Do what you feel comfortable with and how you will feel most beautiful.  Altough your family has a valid point about hiding the detail of your dress, I can promise you, your guests are not going to be looking at the back of your dress nor will they even remember what it looks like if they could see it!  Do what you want to do-its your day!
  • Honestly, this is the exact reason I chose to do an updo. I love the back of my dress, and didn't want it hidden by my hair. I'm not even wearing a veil for partially that reason. I think what it should come down to is whether that's something that's important to YOU. At the end of the day, if you love the way you look that's all that really matters. I highly doubt that anyone will say anything to you about it on your wedding day because they'll all be stunned at how amazing you look. :-)
  • is there something extra special about the back of your dress that shouldnt be covered? i mean its your hair your day, if you want to wear your hair down and it covers the back of your dress so be it, maybe a side pony up-do? but if thats truly what you want then do it :)

  • I understand the dilemma. But, like others, I feel better about my appearance when my hair is down -- self conscious as I am, my hair is one of my features I am most proud of and I think it softens my overall look, which I want. So what if it covers a little of the back -- it's not like people will be talking to the back of my head anyway, right? :) Wear your hair how YOU love it -- you will be beautiful, and no one will really care on your wedding day. They WILL see your confidence and happiness, though...and it's the little things we do that make that shine through all the stress we'll be feeling.

  • Luckily the back of my dress is super low so I am actually using my hair to cover tiny piece of my tattoo that sticks out of my dress.

  • I had the same issue! The back of my dress is gorgeous and there is button and lace detailing all the way up to my neck.

Originally I had chosen to do an updo but I LOVE my hair down and I have been growing it out sooooo long and think it looks so great now, I want to show off how long it has gotten...

So I am compromising and doing a side pony and adding some fresh white roses in my hair too...something like this but maybe more curls!
