Ceremony to reception location site maps...

The reception location is a half hour away from the ceremony. Should those go in invites or would it be okay if they are in the programs? We already got the invites, and I guess we could do an insert, but I feel like it would just be easier to put them in the programs so everyone has them for sure on that day and they don't have to bring the invites with them.

I personally would include the reception site in the invites, just so that people have a heads-up. I know FI and I like to have the day planned out, so we like to know where we're going to be and how far the reception is from the hotel/house (can we walk? Do we have to drive? When will we have to cut ourselves off at the bar? etc).

ETA: I may have read that wrong. Are you talking about the location of the reception or a map to it? I think as long as they know the address they can find it online or through their GPS. I'd add it to your website, if you have one.

  • You should mention the location of the reception in the invitation.  You never know when traffic or a last minute problem will keep someone from the ceremony.

I have seen directions handed out after a church ceremony, but with GPS in almost every car or on most phones, few people really need directions.
  • My reception is also 30mins away from ceremony, so I listed the both locations, and a map on our wedding website. I will also have an insert go in the invites that way your guest know in advance. I personally don't think you should add it to the programs.
