Colorado Location

I am in Austin, TX and looking for a place to get married in Colorado.  I do not want in the "city" but want somewhere that is accessible in the winter (at least the best chance).  I would like everyone to be able to stay at the same place as the wedding or at least in very close proximity.  I want the feel of the mountains and snow right out my window/door.  I am very overwhelmed by options and would greatly appreciate any advice from CO brides.

Thanks,

Shelley

    hi!
i was originally planning a wedding in austin, and then we moved back to CO last year, so now it's here!  if you're looking for someplace with a "mountains in the backyard" feel, but still accessible, i would recommend mount vernon country club.  it's a beautiful country club building in golden, co.  i wasn't very keen on the whole idea of a country club when we went to look at it, but it is gorgeous and you could not ask for better views (i believe their website has some pics if you google).  another idea is the boettcher mansion in golden, which i think is a little bit pricier and might be a little more secluded/hard to get to, but is still very pretty.  we did not go with either venue but mt. vernon was our second choice and we have friends who got married there and highly recommended it.  additionally, there are some gorgeous places in colorado springs (garden of the gods, etc) so there are quite a few options for some place not smack in the middle of the city but not inaccessible in winter.  good luck!

    hi there,

I'd second boettcher mansion (my venue) and mt. vernon country club.  if you want a little more freedom (i.e. bringing in your own alcohol, chosing your own caterer, etc) check out boettcher mansion because you won't have that at mt. vernon country club.  both are pretty places in their own right and have their own set of pros and cons.  How many guests are you having?  that will help with the suggestions.

Thank you very much for the suggestions!  I accidentally just re-posted the question not realizing I had any responses (I am new to the "knot").

    Thanks Again,

    Shelley

Hi Shelley! welcome to the CO boards. :)
We are getting married and having our reception at Cielo at Castle Pines. It is a newer venue that opened April 2009 and is GORGEOUS! it was built for weddings! Its in Castle Rock so its not too far from town and it has that mountain feeling to it! We had originally looked at mountain venues at ski resorts but when we toured Cielo we knew it was perfect! The only complaint I have is that it doesn't have breathtaking views but it certainly makes up for it in other aspects. If you have a chance to visit town and tour some places I would for sure add it to your list. Depending on what you want to spend too. We are dealing with Stacey and she is super nice! :) GL

I responded to your other post, but here's my answer again ;)

Also from Texas (Dallas), and we had a February wedding in Beaver Creek.  If your guests are skiers, you'll want to be close to the slopes so they can really make a vacation out of it.

My bio's below with all of my vendors, etc.  Page me on the Etiquette board or send me a PM if you have any questions.  Good luck :)

Congrats! There are so many options - downtown Denver, Boulder or somewhere up in Summit County. We got married in Vail at the Donovan Pavilion (donovanpavilion.com). Also, our planner was The Celebration Studio (thecelebrationstudio.com). Since we, too were planning from out of state, it was so helpful to have someone local to help with the planning. Good luck!
