Save the Date & Invitation Timeline

How early did you gals send out your save the dates and invitations? My wedding is in April of 2011 so I definitely have time. I'm actually more worried about sending them too early.

Thanks for your help!

I'm getting married in October of 2010 and my STD's went out at the begining of Jan. I would have waited until March, but I'm getting married over a holiday weekend that kicks off fall break so I wanted to make sure people didn't start planning vacations.

I'm getting married on April 10, 2010 & I sent out my STDs about 7-8 months before my wedding. I'm sending out my invitations out at the 2 month mark. I've seen invite etiquette recommend you send out invites at the 3 month mark (TK's Checklist), but I've also seen 2 months & even 6 weeks as appropriate. I'm doing 2 months to be safe. You want them to know about your wedding, but not send it so early that they forget about it. GL & happy planning! You have so much time!

I can't remember exactly but I think we sent out our save the date magnets at the end of October 2009. Our wedding is May 30th, 2010 (Memorial Day weekend) and we plan on sending out the invites the last week or two of March with an RSVP date of May 1st.

I have heard that for STDs you should send them out 8-10 months prior and up to a year prior is even fine.  For Invites 6-8 weeks depending on how many out of towners you have.  3 months early like the Knot checklist said is ridiculously early, especially if you sent out STDs.  I am sending my invites for my April 17 wedding on February 15, so they get there almost exactly 8 weeks before the wedding.  My RSVP by date is March 17.

I hadn't even thought about when to set the RSVP date! Thank you ladies so much! You've been very helpful. I'll definitely make sure to not jump the gun on this one and risk people forgetting. I'm just so anxious! :)
