Irish Traditions for Ceremony

Anyone have any fun/different Irish Traditions for the ceremony?? Either they themselves have done or seen?  We really want to incorporate part of my FI heritage into our ceremony, we were going to have a bagpipper but it's just too expensive.

Thanks

Re: Irish Traditions for Ceremony

  • I went to a wedding last year where one of their readings was the Irish blessing. You could incorporate that into your readings, or if it isn't allowed for the ceremony, maybe even put it in the programs.
  • You could have do a celtic handfasting as part of your ceremony.  You could also include Irish music during the ceremony or reception without actually having a bagpipe. There's always the little Irish traditions, like Irish wedding bells for guests to ring when you leave the ceremony site, or carrying a horseshoe. :)
