Losing Weight

Any September brides looking to lose some more weight before next month? Our day is the 22nd and I'm trying to lose another 10 pounds before then.

Re: Losing Weight

  • Over the course of my year and a half engagment, I lost about 20lbs. I gained 5ish back...so I'm trying to get down to my lowest weight! I've been active almost everyday- running with my puppy, swimming, dance lessons etc.

  • I've got 2 weeks - I've lost like 5-6 pounds, but toned up quite a bit.  I'm happy with it - it isn't perfect, but it's me.

  • I am toning up more than anything. I don't see much change on the scale, but definitely do in how my clothes are fitting ;)
  • I've lost a total of 25 lbs since I got engagement (shamefully gained 10 back lol). But, I'm confident with myself and thats what matters.  I wont go crazy to loose more, but if I do then that would be great :)
  • I've actually lost a little more weight than I wanted so I'm hoping to gain 5 while toning at the same time.

  • I am a 22nd bride also. Lost 15lbs and would love another 10lbs, but will be happy with 5lbs. I've taking up running as a hobby, lol.
  • I'm at 14th bride. I gained about 10 pounds during our one year engagement (ooooops), but I lost about 5 of them. I'd love to lose the other 5 before the wedding of course, but I just had my dress fitting and honestly my dress looked fine. If I lose it great (it's a corset so it's alriht) but if I don't it's okay.

  • I'm happy at my weight but trying to tone up by the 29th.  Just make sure you do it healthy and don't try any crazy "lost 10 pounds in 5 days" fads.  Those are unhealthy and the quicker you try to lose weight the more likely you are to gain it back (I know we all want to look our best for the big day but long-term health is so much more important).  A few healthy things that do help lost a couple pounds quickly are doing things that avoid water retention.  Avoid salty foods and drink plenty of water primarily.  Also, if I want to get rid of any bloat, I cut starches (bread, potatoes, pasta, beer etc) for at least 2 weeks before.  It helps me feel lighter and less puffy.  Switch to lean, fresh proteins and fruits and veggies.  That should keep you full (don't starve yourself and eat regularly or your metabolism will slow down) and light.  Not the most fun but how much better will that wedding cake taste?!

  • I'm just maintaining and trying to tone up now. My dress fits PERFECTLY and I don't want to mess that up. So I see a trainer 1-2 times a week and do strength training and cardio and just monitering what I eat and keeping on track. I was hoping to be down another 20 by this time (I had lost 45 lbs the year before our engagment, then got into "honeymoon period" of the engagement and gained about 15 back) but I'm happy and I'm pretty confident with how I look in my dress and I'm not going to stress/crash diet!

  • I'm getting married the 29th, and I definitely want to lose about 10 lbs before the big day.  My dress was fitted to me when I was about 8 lbs smaller, so I need to.  Also school is over tomorrow, so I'll have more time to work out every day.  Going to the gym hasn't been as successful for me losing weight, so I think FI and I are going to do P90X hardcore over the next month and a half.  That will definitely get us results.  I also am going to try cutting as much sugar out of my diet as possible again.  Since I've been cutting back sugar, my skin hasn't been going haywire.  He's breaking out, so we're both going to do what we can to prevent that.  Only bad thing is from now until the wedding, we have parties, etc. where there will be lots of bad food every weekend!

Have either of you ever had a facial/have time to schedule one?  I have never had one before and have had acne since I was a teen (even did Accutane before everyone found out all the problems it caused...cleared me up for a little but the acne came back).  I had my first facial ever about 2 weeks ago and let her go crazy with the extractions since I knew I had 2 months before the wedding.  My skin looks 300% better (even this week when I have my period and it normally flairs up).  I used a groupon so it wasn't too pricey.  I'm going to go again with another groupon I have to another place 3 weeks before the wedding to purge the last of the crap in my skin (she recommended 2 weeks but I have sensitive skin so with a new place I gave myself an extra week).  The extractions kinda sucked but the results totally made it worth it.  Even FI says how much better it looks and going forward he'd make sure we had the money every 4-6 weeks for me to always go because of how happy I am with my skin.
  • I've been working out 4 days a week (major strength training and cardio) and stick to weight watchers and sparkspeople RELIGIOUSLY and have only lost 2 lbs. I have toned, but it is frustrating as hell to see only a two lb loss after all that. It's like I'm meant to be 138 for the rest of my life no matter what I do. ARGH!!

  • I'm a 22nd bride too.  I've lost 13 lbs so far, and inches on my waist/hips etc.  I've been doing a low carb diet for the past several months (cheating occasionally) and the Bridal Bootcamp DVD.

I would love to lose another 10 but would be happy with 5 more. Trouble is...I'm tired lol.  Tired of eating so healthy and all the exercise...I think everythings just catching up to me. There is so much still to do with the wedding and it sure would be easier and cheaper (Fruits/veggies are quite pricey) to just get take out once and awhile! lol.  I've been living the healthy lifestyle since May...but it hasn't clicked in my brain yet.  Every day is a struggle to make smart food choices and to make myself exercise!
