NWR - ARE YOU KIDDING ME?

I have been having a bad night - if anyone read my update to the "Gah. Consequences" thread they would understand.

We moved into a new apartment a little over a month ago. My son and I were waking up with bites on us in the morning. And then we started seeing ants. Immeadiatelly we were worried about bed bugs or fleas as the culprit. One night, doing HW, I saw a bug in the bed and it jumped. FLEAS.

Okay, fleas, I can deal with. Terrible, annoying, but whatever.

We had to put it off a couple times due to other issues (like cockroaches)

Then we started having ants bite us. I was getting a similar bite mark from the ant bite, so I figured "Maybe the ants are just biting me overnight - it's not either fleas or bed bugs." Literally, sitting here at computer desk I will get ants crawl up my back and up my arms. ITS SO ANNOYING and it HURTS.

I was just sitting down folding socks, and I saw a bug crawl across my leg. I am pretty sure it was a bedbug. FI is not as sure as I am, but I am pretty sure! I JUST WANT TO GIVE UP.

We have been fighting ants. They took over my kitchen counter. My kitchen sink got CLOGGED this week (who knows- ants maybe!?) so we haven't been able to cook anything because the ants are EVEYWHERE adn I couldn't wash dishes. My parents have been giving me a hard time about EVERYTHING and I am just ready to light a match and GIVE UP!!!1

Sorrry. I have nothing left. I just want it to be Saturday so I can move on with my LIFE and get these bugs dealt with!

Re: NWR - ARE YOU KIDDING ME?

  • I would contact the apartment manager IMMEDIATELY and tell them they are taking care of it, or putting you in a new place. I'm so sorry!! :(

  • OH HAYELLLL NO.

Okay, when we first moved to NYC, we had bedbugs for a few months. Definitely call your landlord and ask for extermination immediately (and if you say it's bedbugs, they'll do it - this shhiiit gets insane fast).

    1. They are likely hiding in the crevices of your mattress and box springs. My FI and I literally shut the door to the room andinspected everything with a flashlight and a role of scotch tape. When we found a bug, we caught it with the scotch tape and smashed it.

    2. Get plastic covers for all mattresses and box springs and seal them. Cover the zippers with duct tape.

    3. Get rid of ALL cardboard boxes in the bedroom. Seal them in grabage bags while in the room, and then throw them out. There are likely bedbugs hiding in the corrugation (after a few months of weekly "hunting" we were still having issues. We had a box of purses under the bed, and discovered that's where a lot of them were living).

    4. Vaccuum the floorboards daily, and empty out the vaccuum bag every day.

There are pleny more b-bug tips online. I'm SO sorry you're going through this. It's the worst.

As for the ants and fleas - hopefully the exterminator can help out there.
