Wedding Vows & Ceremony Discussions

I need your opinions on the "walking down the aisle song"

Our ceremony is going to be on a pier on the water and I will be walking down a long dock so more than likely I will be walking down the dock to a full 3-4 min. song. I'm trying to decide between "Marry Me" by Train and "A Thousand Years" by Christina Perri. Opinions please! Thanks!

  • I'm truly obsessed with "Marry Me" by Train and I am def walking down the aisle to that! So that's my vote!

  • I really like "A Thousand Years".
  • I will be walking down the isle to Marry me as well. Im glad I am hearing other people that are doing this. My mom thinks I am crazy, but I want something different. We have some friends that can sing/play guitar so they are going to sing/play this for us and tweek it a little to fit us.
  • I will be walking down the isle to an acoustic versionof I Knew I Loved by Savage Garden.  Of your two choices I would say "Marry Me" but both are going to be really popular this year.  I think "A Thousand Years" sounds like a sad song.

1,000 years is nearly a full minute longer than Marry Me.  I'd go with the shorter.  4 minutes is already a really long walking song.

I have a long aisle to walk down also and I'm using A Thousand Years. It was going to be Marry Me, but once I heard A Thousand Years I just had to have it. There is a point towards the end that seems like a clear break if you didn't want the the entire song.

  • That is exactly what is happening to me! I love the song!
  • I vote for Marry Me.

I agree w. PP about 1000 years being sad.  I do like the "Marry Me" version by Martina mcbride and the lead singer from train.  I plan to incorporate it somewhere in the wedding.

  • Why do I have both those songs as choices too!!! Choose the longer song. I'm also thinking 'arms' by Cristina perri

  • Just curious, how is "Thousand Years" sad? I'm planning on using it, but mainly just the first 30 seconds (short aisle, haha).
  • HAHA!
I don't think the song is particularly sad, I just think it "sounds" sad.  The lyrics aren't sad, just the music is somber and the singer sounds like she's about the cry.  I don't know.
