Wedding Invitations & Paper

1 invitation or 2 seperate invitations to 1 house

OK my cousin is in college and will be staying with her parents during the summer (when the invitations will be mailed). Should I just add her name to her parent's invitation or send her one of her own?

  • I agree with Banana. Send her a seperate invite. Chances are, she leads her own life and she may have something already lined up.
  • That's a hard one.  I have a big family and have had this a lot.  However, I was usually on my parent's until I was out of college and in the real world working.  I know she is supposed to get a seperate per etiquette rules and formal rules.  But if it is your family you know them best.  My invitations were ordered in packs of 25 so I have extra anyway so I might send her a seperate one.  Also, if she is over 21 I would send her own for sure!

  • If she is over 18 she should get her own.  And especially if she is getting a guest she definitely should get her own.  I know it can be annoying and tedious (we have 3 invites going to one house) but it is out of respect for the young adult.

  • It's not over 21, it's over 18 when you're an adult.
  • I made the decision to put all people living in the same household on the same invitation, to save on paper and stamps.
  • It's great that you made the decision to save on paper- but it's not appropriate.
  • I did not make a decision to save paper. I was asking opinions on what others have done. I have already marked her down for her own invitation btw.

[QUOTE]Send her an invitation separate from her parents. 1) It's proper etiquette to do so. 2) By that point in life, she's an adult and often will lead a life separate from her parents.  When I was home for the summer, I didn't always see my parents or have a lot of time to talk to them.  I would have been upset if they made my decisions for me.

Perfect reasons. Send anyone over 18 their own invitation whether or not they live with their parents.
