Does a heel make a noticeable difference?

You may have seen the pic of my dress that I posted two days ago. I'm wearing 4" wedges in the pic, but I think I'd prefer to wear flat sandals. I have no idea how the alterations will work, but I am hoping they can bring up the waist a little so that I don't lose the skirt or look frumpy (I'm 5'1").
Does anyone know if there will be a noticeable difference btwn flats and heels in an elongated waist gown? Thanks for helping out with all of these posts :)

Re: Does a heel make a noticeable difference?

  • Personally, I would stay with heels. That is a beautiful dress and I wouldn't risk ruining it with the kind of alteration you are thinking of. But that's my opinion (not sure if it helped or not), I'm curious what others have to say.

  • I have no idea. I would suggest posting the picture and the question on the A&A board. Those girls are good.

  • Mikesgal: I think the waist will have to be brought up no matter what shoes I wear.
cnf: Thanks for the tip. I will post it there.

  • have you ordered your dress yet? The dress I think I am going to end up with has a really crazy bottom, and I dont want to lose that, and I am really short, and dont want to take a lot off the length. The store I am purchasing my dress from says that most dresses come in different lengths, mine comes in 3, so thats something worth looking into if you havent ordered it yet.

  • I'd suggest if it's possible to try on the dress one more time, this time in flats, so that you have an idea of what it will look like on your wedding day and how it needs to be altered. If you think you'd be more comfortable in flast I'd say definitely go for it though!

  • Thanks for the help everyone. I posted this question on AA board and I think I will go back and meet with someone in alterations (and bring along flats and my sister as well). Thanks again!
