Budget Wedding Dress Advise

Hi all

I need to find a perfect dress for my wedding but im on a very strict budget . I'm having my wedding under 10,000 dollars  so that only leaves me with around 800 dollars or less for my dress because im having 110 guest's...

Does anyone have any advise for me.

I've been looking online , but i refuse to buy a dress from anyone online. I live in the Bay Area, in California and im not running into any luck.

Ive also looked on davids Bridal but dont like anything i've seen...

Help please. Thank you.

  • I would poke around at some of the preowned dress sites, or see if you have any bridal consignment shops in your area.  Alfred Angelo might have some dresses in that price range, if you didn't like what you saw at David's.
This is a neglected planning bio.
This is a belated married bio, with no reviews yet because I'm lazy.

Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married. Things shouldn't have to be sugar-coated for grown-ass women. -mstar284
  • check out alfred angelo, mori lee, ella, jacquelin. Also many of the designer's destination lines are priced a fair but under 800.00

My dress is a venus destination and it cost 317.00
  • Come see me at Alfred Angelo! My name is Tatiana and we have plenty of dresses under $800 that I'm sure you'd love. Everything from little white dresses to ball gowns. Plus you'll get a discount on the rest of your wedding party. I'm at the Northstar location.

  • I would still suggest going into a David's Bridal and trying stuff on.  I didn't like anything I saw online, but still went in and ended up getting my dress! It was only $450 too!  I ended up getting 2 actually, the reception dress was only $200.  2 dresses for $650 wasn't bad at all to me!

  • I second ihaveapanda's idea- go try on stuff at David's before ruling it out completely. I thought there would be no way I'd like any of the dresses there since I went there with two brides right before I was engaged, and didn't like anything! I went with my mom, tried on anything that we saw any potential in, and I found by perfect dress for $225!! You might be surprised... good luck!

You could try Group USA, which has wedding gowns. They have stores in Ontario and Milpitas, not sure if either is near you. Peruse their selection online, then go if you see anything you like:

    http://groupusa.com/c-prodsub.cfm?gid=9&cid=2

Most of their dresses are under $600, a few are $800. On their website, click on "bridal" at the top. An option comes up for sale items as well, many are under $300,but you have to go to the store.
  • I'll second the Alfred Angelo dresses...they are very reasonably priced, they just got a bunch of new styles as well!

(I don't think I tried on any dresses over $850)
  • check out craigslist. i'm sure you could find a used dress in your area that you could actually go try on before buying. also, go to boutiques in your area and look for sample gowns. or post to your local board and see if they can recommend any dress boutiques with prices in your range.
