Marriage License

I know it varies from state-to-state, but do we have to obtain our marriage license in the same county that we are getting married? We live in Spartanburg County, but will be getting married in Charleston County.

    I think you have to get the marriage license from the County you are getting married in.  Check the Charleston county website to make sure.

    From what I read on the Lexington Co. website, you do NOT need to get a license for the county you are married in. Just for the state.

    Correct-- It's just the state.. but the price in each county is different... and remeber there is a 24 hour waiting period!

    If you are getting married in Charleston county, there is an out of county fee, as long as your in state residents, otherwise there is a out of state fee, rather than a out of county fee! 

    We are getting married in Myrtle Beach, lived there, but just moved, but will still have our SC licenses, so we only had to pay for in county. And it only took them 24hrs to get the license to us:) And you HAVE to have your SS Card or they will turn you away, you cant even have the slip that says you have one on the way *(we learned this the hard way lol).
