Bellefonte/State College Reception Locations?

Hi all,

Does anyone know of any good places to have a reception (abt 100 people) in the Bellefonte or State College area?  I'm not looking for something super-fancy, just something that has a little bit of local charm.

If anyone has any suggestions about good caterers, that would be wonderful too :-)

We have a client who is getting married in Bellefont, stopping for pictures in Tallyrand park and hosting their reception at the State College Elks.  Hope it helps:)

My favorite location here is seven mountains wine cellars (www.sevenmountainswinecellars.com), but there are many places for a reception of that size.  Toftrees, The Elks, Celebration Hall, and many others are around too.  You can email me at stace1814 at yahoo dot com if you need any help :)

I just attended at wedding that took place at the match factory in bellefonte, it was really nice! They were married outside by the creek, and then went indoors and used the Philatelic Society's facilities right there.  It was great, and definitely had that local charm I think you're looking for.

There's also Toftrees in State College.

You should check out the new Arboretum at Penn State.  It's obviously all outdoors, but they have a permanent tented structure and it is absolutely gorgeous.  They just opened for weddings this season so I think word of mouth is still low.

I was in a wedding at Tussy Mountain...definitely not frilly. And I'm not sure if she used their catering but the food was so-so. But if you're getting married in the summer you should know that the AC was terrible!

I had my wedding at Toftrees on July 16. Besides Tussy, its the only other place in State College to have an outdoor wedding. We chose Le Papillion because you get the terrace for cocktails and easier access to the Croquet Lawn for the ceremony. There is also a ballroom which has a more traditional feel. They were fantastic and Woodrings did a stellar job decorating! Here's the link to some pics from my Facebook album. Good luck!

Oh also with Toftrees, you have to guarantee 150 for Saturday so we did Friday night where there's no minimum.

I am getting married in the Granary in Lemont.  Outdoor reception is necessary, but the  historic building has a lot of character.

Do you have any pictures you could share from the match factory!?  Sounds like an intriging place, but I can't find pictures online!
