Let's Talk Favors ...

Are you giving anything out?  If so, what?

I really, really wanted to do custom Jones Soda bottles, but the price is insane.  I was just looking on Pinterest and found a cute idea to give out coffee beans (FI and I love a good cup of coffee).  I would put the beans in small jam mason jars, which ties in with the rest of our wedding decor.  Love it?  Hate it?  Opinions wanted Smile

Re: Let's Talk Favors ...

  • I'm going to be totally honest.  I love the idea, however, as a guest, I think it would go to waste.  I don't have a coffee grinder so it would be useless to me.  I think with so many people having Keurigs and the like I don't think many people use other coffee as much.
  • I think that's very cute! If I'm gonna get a favor I'd rather it be edible. We're doing a candy buffet

I actually don't know many people that own Keurigs because a lot of friends that are coffee drinkers think they're too expensive. But depends on the guests just throwing that out there. I personally don't like coffee but if I received that as a favor FI would use it so it wouldn't go to waste and I think it'd be cute
  • I would go by your guest list. Do the majority of them like coffee as well? If so, go for it.

I am doing a candy buffet as well. Can't wait until after Easter so I can see what I can purchase on sale. I need silver & purple candy!

<div>We were discussing this too.  Then we talked about doing ground coffee instead of beans since even with the Keurigs they come with the add ons to use grinds.  I think beans would look nicer though ... I'm open to other ideas too!  <img src="http://cdn.cl9.vanillaforums.com/downloaded/ver1.0/content/scripts/tinymce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-smile.gif" border="0" alt="Smile" title="Smile" /></div>
  • Candy buffet.
    I like your idea too!

We're giving out paper fans at the ceremony and small boxes of M&Ms at the reception. I love an edible favor!
  • In addition to wedding cake, we're offering a Viennese tray to each table for dessert.  This includes chocolate covered strawberries, canolis, and Italian cookies.  I was thinking about including favor bags with these trays, and letting our guests take these treats home.  Does this sound good to you ladies???  We won't do favors if this doesn't work out.

OP, I like the idea of coffee beans, but I also love coffee haha.

  • I'm not doing favors.

I like the coffee idea but I'd definitely do ground coffee. I don't know anyone with a grinder.

  • I think we're going to do mini plants/flowers/or herbs that double as escort cards to go along with our effort to be eco-friendly.  Something like this:

    Succulent/Escort Card

Except we might put the names/tables directly on the pots to save paper.

  • We are doing a Frozen Yogurt bar.  Fi and I own a Fro-Yo shop and just recently (this weekend haha) purchased a portable machine.  It will only be one flavor, which means we have to narrow it down from the ~200+ to choose from, but we will offer plenty of toppings and stuff to go on it! It's definitely very "us" since that is a huge part of our lives right now.

  • I love the idea of coffee beans in a mason jar. That's so cute.

So far I have tiny bottles of bubbles that look like chapagne bottles. I'm still trying to work on something else. Trying to find very inexpensive tea cups and saucers to put cupcakes in as the other favor/wedding cake.

LOVE Canolis! I think to go boxes would work better than bags
  • We're doing washcloths that look like cupcakes, in a cupcake holder with a faux strawberry on top. I know my family will like it as we go through washcloths like crazy.
  • I love coffee and love the favor; I dont have a grinder but would give them to a family member as to not waste them. I loathe waste! Our favor for Disney DW is our welcome bag which will inculde Jordan Almonds, snacks, drinks and a gift card to use somewhere at Disneyworld. We are having a picnic in July for the whole family and those favors will be a mint and lottery ticket with a note, "We hope you get lucky; Karen and Matthew; 6/8/12"
  • Julie- I love the coffee bean idea. I am also worried that it would go to waste since lots of people don't have coffee grinders.

What about putting jelly beans in your wedding colors in the mason jars? Or something along those lines. So (almost) everyone can enjoy them!

  • We're having a photo booth and shopping for strips of magnet to attach to the back of the strips to make photo magnets

Love it!! Sounds unique... We had to go a less expensive route ourselves. We were budgeting for everything and neglected the favors. We got little clear boxes and are putting lavender mm's in them and tying black ribbon around them. I also ordered lables from Oriental Trading in black and white. They look really cute. I will post a pic one of these days.

We're skipping the favours, but I think the coffee bean idea is cute! Maybe make them chocolate covered? :)

<div>That's awesome. I recently tried Pinkberry and I'm obsessed.  I would be SO excited at your wedding.  I'm actually really jealous you own a froyo shop, that is AMAZING. </div>
  • I hate coffee, but I would think it was cute since it's something the both of you like. I'd still take it because we're registering for a coffee maker for when we have guests and that means I wouldn't have to buy coffee for it.

We're giving out the following baseball cards and donating to the American Cancer society in *gasp* honor of our guests.

I know that it says Husband and Wife, yet I'm on the left. We have faith that our guests will be able to figure out who is who.
  • I don't like coffee or even the smell of it so this would be a disappointing favor for me! It sounds like it would look cute tho... I like the jelly bean idea that one of the other girls had better... FI and I are doing a candy buffet
  • Huh, I didn't realize grinders were so unusual to have, we've always had one!  I do like the coffee idea though if it would suit the majority of your guest list and I think the beans would look really cute!

We're have a candy table and we also have a photo booth that gives 2 strips of photos, one for the scrapbook that is created and signed by the guests and one that is for the guests to take home.
  • I like the coffee bean idea.  Maybe for those without grinders they could just put it out for the scent?  I know some who don't like the smell either so idk beyond that.

We are making truffles.  Each guest will have a box that has 2 truffles in it at their seat.

I don't drink coffee, but LOVE the smell of it so I'd do this.  I'm have small picture frames as escort cards and small boxes of Hershey Kisses.
  • I love coffee and I have a grinder so I like the idea.

We are doing chocolate covered pretzles as our favor.
