1920's fall wedding mash up

Hi, me and my fiance are planning our wedding and for the reception we are trying to do a mix between a 1920's wedding and fall theme. I am just looking for some good ideas on mixing the two or if anyone has seen something like it and has pics that would be awesome, Thank you.

Re: 1920's fall wedding mash up

  • I'm doing a vintage wedding in late Sept. 2013 and I'm mostly focusing on the vintage (30's/40s) part with a touch of salute to fall - bridesmaid dresses either deep cherry red or burnt orange; mostly cherry red, but thowing in a little burnt orange here or there. I don't want to have a super fallish wedding with leaves, pumpkins, etc., since I'm doing more glam vintage. I'm going to have mainly white flowers with some touches of burnt orange/cherry red rhinestones or beads in the bouquets.  Some cut glass punch cups I got at GoodWill - looks crystal-like and glam, filled with something red or burnt orange or maybe just with bows of red or burnt orange. I'm envisioning large centerpieces with a feather or two and maybe some burnt orange crystal beads draping down from the centerpiece.

You could do some very pretty chargers in an autumn color with napkin rings that are that same color or put on rhinestone napkin rings that are that color - that way it's glam but the colors are in keeping with fall. A lot of people choose to totally ignore the season. I was planning a spring wedding initially - mainly white with cherry red and spring green touches, but then we decided on late September so I subbed out the spring green for burnt orange. You could have "crystal" beads of any fall color - or pearls of that color, draped on tables, out of vases, etc.
Daring to dream a bigger dream
  • I'm doing a loose 1920s themed wedding with a peacock motif this fall. Our colors are plum, hunter green and a light neutral. We're bringing in the fall elements to a limited extent with centerpieces: while some of the centerpieces are going to be very dark purple flowers with some feathers and some crystal beads (like the prior poster suggested), my FI is a foodie, so we're going to mix in some artichokes/eggplants (other fall-season crops of the appropriate color) in large pilsner vases along with flowers as centerpieces. I've seen pictures of this elsewhere online and it looks much nicer than it sounds.  Thought about getting evergreen branches involved in centerpieces originally, but the FI pointed out that this would be more appropriate for a winter wedding than a late fall wedding.
