Ellie's Bridal in Alexandria

I've had two friends who were married in the last year tell me that I HAD to go to Ellie's and look around.

Well, I've tried calling on two occasions and the phone rang indefinitely, and when I tried emailing them my email bounced back.  Has anyone here been there in the past couple of months, or know that they are out of business.

My BM and I are just going to walk through Old Town Alexandria one day next week since there are a ton of bridal stores there anyway, but I just wanted to see if anyone knew anything.

Really?!  I thought Ellie's was TERRIBLE!  It was probably one of my worst shopping experiences.  They didn't have any dresses in the style that I was looking for, but the woman kept insisting that I try on other styles.  She was very pushy.  "Well, maybe if we add a a sash... well mabye if we change the bottom like this..."  One of my bridesmaids finally had to firmly say that we weren't interested.  Who knows, maybe it was just this particular salesperson?

Two brides and my FSIL who went there as a bridesmaid all thought it was great.  Thanks for your input, though, it's good to hear these things before you go somewhere.

Ellie's was definitely the worst shopping experience I had.  They were rude non-attentive and my salesperson told me we'd have to hurry up since she wanted to leave exactly at 6 pm.  (We had JUST walked in and it was only).  She then basically dumped some dresses on me and left. Just horrible!

Unless Ellie's is the only store in the area that has the dress that you were wanting to try on, as was the case for me,don't waste your time going there.  Even if they do have a particular dress you were interested in, I wouldn't purchase it from there.

The only really legit bridal store in Old Town in my opinion is Hannelore's.  Make sure you make an appt. if you want to go by there and ask to work with Kimberly.

I went there initially because it was close to home.  I worked with Robin, who has since left.  She was great!  I ended up getting my dress elsewhere, but went back there again for BM dresses.  My MOH had an issue with them double-charging her card.  But at hte end of the day, the dresses all came in and in the right sizes (we had to rush order them due to me moving my wedding day up).

The stock in the store is very dingy - clearly tried on a lot.

I did not try Hannalore's because I didn't want *that* experience.  Le Star on King St. had some great dresses, but that sales lady was VERY pushy.

    Happy Hunting!

I went in today and had a fine experience-- the sales associate was sweet, not pushy and let me look around to my heart's content (I like looking at dresses myself rather than having someone pick for me).  When I started to try on dresses, the sale associate was helpful.  There were a couple of good dress candidates, but I am still looking.  The prices were reasonable.  I went in during the afternoon on a weekday so maybe that made a difference.

i got my dress from ellie's about a year ago.  i had a great experience but when i read all the horrible reviews about them, i decided not to get my alterations done there as i was planning on doing.  i just didn't want to risk it.  but my dress came in on time and it was perfect.

I just went there this week and it was by far the worst experience I have had in bridal gown shopping.  I am not a picky person - I do not need to be fawned over and I have gotten pretty efficient at putting on and taking off dresses myself, but I was appalled at the absolute lack of service that I got at Ellie's.  They showed me the layout of the store and then did not talk to me for the remainder of my time.  Luckily I had a friend with me who was able to zip me up and put away dresses I didn't like to get them out of the dressing room.  I found a dress that I am considering, but I am not going to buy it from them if that's the one I wind up goingwith.
