Guestbook Idea - Opinions Please

So i have been thinking about making my own guestbook which would probably be cheaper. Well i just thought about this idea. Making a quilt as the guestbook. I can have squares of fabric and fabric markers for people to write on at the reception then sewing them all together afterwards to make a quilt which is something that we can have displayed on the back of the sofa.

What are your opinions on this idea?

I'm not really a crafty kind of person... my idea of a DYI project is buying something off of etsy.com, but I have to say, I love this idea.  I think it's a great idea.  Something that you'll have forever and also something you future kids might love too.

I think that sounds like a really great idea!  FI's grandma celebrated her 90th birthday a few years ago and they made her a quilt with plain squares and photo squares and then everyone signed it and it came out really well.  Maybe you could add some wedding and/or e-pics to your quilt.  That will be such a great keepsake!

I love the idea. Maybe before the day off, I would test the ease of writing on the fabric. That is the only thing I could see being hard if its the wrong type of marker/fabric.

I think it's a great idea too. And this way you'll see it and use it all the time as opposed to a book that gets put away and rarely looked at.

I love this idea too!!  I don't understand the idea of a traditional guestbook with everyone writing their name and address.....hello...don't I already have your address since I mailed you an invitation!!!  So for me, I think that either a scrapbook or quilt for guests to sign is much nicer.

I like the quilt idea! As someone said, that's a wedding memory you'll actually be able to use :)

I like the idea, it'll mean a lot more to you than something you bought (although I'm not crafty at all) so go for it if you can.

That is a cute idea! I recently went to a wedding where they rented a photobooth and had a box of props (wigs, sunglasses, fake mustaches) outside of the booth for their guests to dress up with. After the pictures printed the guests went to the guestbook table, glued their picture in, and wrote a cute little congrats or good luck message. It was a photo album/guest book and I think a GREAT keepsake.

I love this idea. I have been trying to figure out something instead of the guest book too but this one didn't cross my mind. But it's a good one.
